West Midlands Police have issued the image of a man they urgently want to speak to after a Birmingham<\/a> shop worker was “stabbed” during a robbery.<\/p>\n

Paramedics were called to Heron Foods, opposite the Heathway shops, in Shard End, just after 10.05am on Thursday (Feb 5), where they treated an employee for stab wounds.<\/p>\n

The seriously injured man was taken to hospital and an investigation launched.<\/p>\n

Detectives have issued the image of a man called Reece Allen who they want to speak to in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n

Allen is said to have links to Winson Green and anyone with information is asked to contact them.<\/p>\n

Birmingham Police said: “Have you seen Reece Allen?<\/p>\n

“We\u2019d like to speak to the 31-year-old about a robbery where a man was stabbed on Heathland Avenue, Shard End, yesterday morning (5 February).<\/p>\n

“We believe Allen has links to the Winson Green area.”<\/p>\n

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing on Heathland Avenue at 10.06am, one ambulance, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor, with a critical care paramedic, attended the scene.<\/p>\n

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated for serious injuries before being taken to hospital.”<\/p>\n

A police spokesman told BirminghamLive earlier: “We were called to a store on Heathland Avenue, Shard End at around 10.05am after a man was seriously injured during a robbery.<\/p>\n

“The man suffered a knife wound to his stomach and was taken to hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

“As part of our investigation, we are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.<\/p>\n

Heron Foods has been contacted for a statement.<\/p>\n
