Sources said the officials came across several batches of medicines that could not be traced back to their manufacturer.<br \/>When the drug control officers found strips of medicines being used at the nursing homes, they started cross-checking their authenticity. Upon scanning the bar code or QR code printed on the medicine strips or bottles, many of these medicines were found to be spurious. <br \/>While the drug control is sending notices to these manufacturers asking them to corroborate the medicines&#8217; authenticity, sources said batches of several antibiotics were also found to be not genuine.<br \/>&#8220;We have been making retailers aware of the ways to check the authenticity of the medicines. However, institutional supplies don&#8217;t come under our purview.
