And he has never forgiven them.

But he is too cowardly to call a second referendum so is taking the UK back into the arms of his brethren in Brussels by the backdoor.

He has signed up to fortnightly Brexit reset talks, effectively flashing some ankle in the hope the EU welcomes us back.

Remainer Starmer wants in, not out, unlike 17.4 million Brits who voted to leave the EU, says Giles Sheldrick (Image: Getty Images)

Latvian European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis said the economic and political partnership of 27 countries was “open-minded and ready to engage” with Starmer.

The proposal is a customs union to stop tariffs and taxes on some or all goods moving between the UK and mainland Europe.

Make no mistake, as we approach the 10-year anniversary of the seismic and historic vote to quit the bloc Starmer and his sidekick Rachel Reeves are gearing up to sell the country out.

This week Chancellor Ms Reeves hosted Mr Dombrovskis with their sinister plotting leading to fears it will not be long before Britain is back operating in a single market.

Labour is so economically impotent and bereft of ideas it doesn’t have a plan that isn’t ever-closer alignment with Brussels.

The plot has always been a slow strengthening of Britain’s relationship with the bloc that will eventually lead to a reworked single market where the UK is part of a unified economic area in which goods, services, capital, and people can move freely across borders.

This so-called reset of our relationship will inevitably lead to freedom of movement. A greater act of political infidelity is hard to imagine.

Sir Keir has made no secret of his lust for ever closer alignment, saying: “If it’s in our national interest… then we should consider that, we should go that far.”

His warped thinking is that an about-turn on Brexit will head off the threat of Nigel Farage and Reform if it is framed as an attempt to undo some of the economic damage caused by our vote to leave in 2016.

But the 17.4 million who voted for Brexit are not stupid.

Like his disgraced chum Mandelson, Starmer is part of the same lofty metropolitan elite that loathes democracy, decency, and free-thinking.

But his lurch towards realignment is surely the most misguided and ill-judged of all his many miscalculations.

Labour is hellbent on taking Britain back to the 1970s but should think long and hard before selling us all out.

Labour is hellbent on reversing Brexit a decade on from the EU referendum (Image: Getty Images) Treachery, deception,…

[5226
802,24482,5322,748,2000,189107,299,5187,1699,4884,807,220789,384,619,16,15
0":"post-748123","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-brexit","8":"tag-brexit","9":"tag-brexit-betrayal","10":"tag-brexit-news","11":"tag-britain","12":"tag-eu","13":"tag-eu-customs-union","14":"tag-europe","15":"tag-european","16":"tag-european-union","17":"tag-great-britain","18":"tag-keir-starmer","19":"tag-labour-party-alignment","20":"tag-nigel-farage","21":"tag-rachel-reeves","22":"tag-uk","23":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
