Australian golfer Cam Davis<\/a> almost achieved a feat not seen on the PGA Tour<\/a> for 25 years as he continued his run at the Phoenix Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old from Sydney sits at two-under par following the first two rounds at one of the year’s most exciting and popular events.<\/p>\n

Davis will play over the weekend in Phoenix after making the cut, tied in 52nd spot.<\/p>\n

But it was one moment from Davis that set tongues wagging and almost etched his name into the sport’s history books.<\/p>\n

On the par-four 17th hole, Davis nailed a tremendous tee shot that narrowly rolled past the hole, before nailing a short eagle putt.<\/p>\n

Had the tee shot gone in, it would have marked the first par-hour hole-in-one on the PGA Tour for well over two decades.<\/p>\n

“This is aggressive over there \u2026 this is fantastic,” commentator Taylor Zarzour said.<\/p>\n

“We have not had an ace on a Par 4 since Andrew McGee did it decades ago on the PGA Tour \u2013 and that’s about as close we’ve seen for eagle.”<\/p>\n

Davis sits nine shots behind Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune, who is -11 after two rounds, one shot clear of countryman Hideki Matsuyama.<\/p>\n

Min Woo Lee is the best of the Aussies so far, sitting six-under following two rounds. <\/p>\n
