after overdosing on mum&#8217;s fat jab that she called \u2018stomach ache\u2019 medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JESSA Milender was found on the floor \u201clifeless\u201d after overdosing on her mum\u2019s weight loss jab, which she thought was medicine for \u201cstomach aches\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>The seven-year-old from Indiana, US, injected herself with 60 per cent of her mum Melissa\u2019s GLP-1 pen in December 2024. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for The US Sun newsletter\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Jessa Milender, now 8, accidentally overdosed on her mum\u2019s weight loss jab in December 2024Credit: WTHR<\/p>\n<p>The child was taken to A&amp;E limp and ashen-facedCredit: WTHR<\/p>\n<p>Jessa said she had mistaken the jab for \u2018stomach ache medicine\u2019Credit: WTHR<\/p>\n<p>The pens typically contain four doses to be used across four weeks \u2013 meaning the tot had given herself more than two adult doses in one go. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought it was stomach medicine,\u201d Jessa, now 8, told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=h2rPcIOfdcU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">WHAS-11<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mum takes it and I thought it helped her with her stomach aches.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A panicked Melissa called poison control \u2013 a helpline for people with poisoning emergencies \u2013 and took her daughter to the ER, where she was wheeled in ashen-faced and limp. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we were prepared for how bad it was gonna get,\u201d Melissa told the outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At this point, Jessa was suffering from dehydration and vomiting. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ER staff didn\u2019t know what to do,\u201d Melissa told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs8.com\/article\/news\/investigations\/i-felt-like-she-was-dying-mother-recounts-7yearolds-glp-1-overdose\/509-3c24e22a-f3a4-402b-86f0-2a1fa5ec8ccb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">CBS 8<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey just called poison control, and poison control told them the same thing they told me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t know how to respond.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>GLP-1 related calls to poison centres have surged 1,500 per cent across the US since 2019 \u2013 with hundreds of calls placed each month, WHAS-11 reported.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in the UK, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said there has been a surge of Yellow Card reports of serious reactions linked to the jabs between 2024 and 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Jessa was hooked up to an IV drip and given medication, which seemed to ease the worst of the symptoms, prompting doctors to send her home. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should have never let them discharge her,\u201d Melissa said.<\/p>\n<p>At home, Jessa became so weak her mum had to carry her to the bathroom. <\/p>\n<p>Jessa was initially discharged from hospital but was taken back when she stopped peeingCredit: WTHR<\/p>\n<p>She was suffering from dehydration and vomiting and didn\u2019t eat for almost a weekCredit: WTHR<\/p>\n<p>Melissa is speaking out about the ordeal in the hopes of warning other parentsCredit: WTHR<\/p>\n<p>She was constantly complaining of thirst and continued to vomit. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the only thing that she wanted to do was drink water, but then she would throw it up,\u201d Melissa recalled. <\/p>\n<p>The mum rushed Jessa to hospital again after she stopped peeing. <\/p>\n<p>Medical reports seen by WHAS-11  showed that doctors were worried about the state of the child\u2019s kidneys. <\/p>\n<p>Melissa said she was \u201c100 per cent\u201d concerned for her daughter\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe didn\u2019t eat for six days straight,\u201d Melissa said, describing the incident as \u201cthe worst week of our lives\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\tSymptoms of a weight loss jab overdose\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>A weight loss jab overdose can cause severe gastrointestinal side effects, including: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nausea <\/li>\n<li>Vomiting <\/li>\n<li>Stomach pain <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These signs don\u2019t sound that different from common side effects caused by weight loss jabs \u2013 but they may be more intense. <\/p>\n<p>Patients may also experience headaches and dizziness. <\/p>\n<p>Seek urgent help if you cannot keep anything down, there\u2019s blood in your vomit and you have severe or persistent abdominal pain. <\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellhealth.com\/injectable-weight-loss-medication-overdose-poison-control-8546359?_gl=1*1dk5k1j*_ga*MTg2Mjg4MTQyOS4xNzcwMTExNzMx*_ga_DK3GDWHWJH*czE3NzAxMTE3MzAkbzEkZzEkdDE3NzAxMTQzMTEkajYwJGwwJGgw\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">Verywell Health<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>She told CBS 8 she feared her daughter may be dying. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s how she looked. She had lost significant weight\u2026 her cheeks were sunken in, her eyes were sunken in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe couldn\u2019t walk from exhaustion and severe pain. She wouldn\u2019t even allow them to touch her stomach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019d scream out in pain in her sleep. It was awful.
