The owner of a popular North West brand has announced his plans for a “takeover”. Amar Hussain, from Manchester, is the brains behind Groke Burgers.<\/p>\n

The brand launched just shy of half a decade ago along Academy Street in Warrington<\/a>. Since then, due to its loyal customers, who come in thousands, the company has expanded elsewhere in the region. It can now be found on Baldwin Street in St Helens<\/a> town centre and along Anfield<\/a> at 147 Breck Road.<\/p>\n

Owner Amar told the ECHO: “<\/a>We started off in Warrington and, due to demand, moved into St Helens. From there, demand took us to Wigan, then Liverpool – and now we\u2019re moving into Birkenhead<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n

“Warrington began four years ago, and the customers have been non-stop ever since. It\u2019s been an amazing journey. You really can\u2019t complain, especially when we\u2019ve got the best burgers to back it up.<\/p>\n

“The idea came about because I used to travel to Warrington for work. While I was there, I realised there was hardly any food around, so I thought there was a gap in the market and decided to go for it.<\/p>\n

“It took me a year and a half to get everything right – I prepped, tested, and created all the recipes myself before ever opening a shop. I needed to master everything at home in the kitchen before we even considered launching.<\/p>\n

After initially launching with a “huge menu”, Amar said the Groke team whittled this down so they could \u201cperfect every single thing\u201d and so customers knew they were getting a “high-quality meal”.<\/p>\n

Today, the menu is made up of smash burgers, loaded fries, brownie desserts and smaller kids’ meals. To standardise all the ingredients across the sites, no matter the location, Amar opened a warehouse in Warrington and it is from here that all the food is sent out each week.<\/p>\n

The Groke and The Classic are two of the takeaways best sellers<\/p>\n

One of the standout items is the \u00a315 Big Ben Burger. Made up of five smashed patties it is bound together with eight slices of American cheese and laden with caramelised red onions, crunchy lettuce and drizzled in signature sauce within a seeded brioche bun<\/p>\n

Amar, who oversees a team of 80 now, said: \u201cIt\u2019s mad how it all came about. It\u2019s never something I pictured myself doing, and even now, thinking about it all feels crazy. I went to university and graduated with a masters in law. This was never in the plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow we\u2019re looking at Chester, North Wales, and Wrexham. It\u2019s all heading in the same direction – a takeover of the North West.
