{"id":752160,"date":"2026-02-09T06:26:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T06:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/752160\/"},"modified":"2026-02-09T06:26:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T06:26:10","slug":"adnoc-masdar-look-at-germany-for-new-energy-ventures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/752160\/","title":{"rendered":"Adnoc, Masdar look at Germany for new energy ventures"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"wp-block-list key-points\">\n<li>Framework for collaboration on LNG deliveries<\/li>\n<li>As much as 1 MTPA for up to 10 years<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agbi.com\/companies\/masdar\/\" class=\"company-insights-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Masdar<\/a> and RWE examining battery storage <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agbi.com\/companies\/adnoc\/\" class=\"company-insights-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abu Dhabi National Oil Company<\/a> (Adnoc) and Masdar, the emirate\u2019s two biggest energy and renewables companies, have signed preliminary agreements with Germany\u2019s RWE to expand their business reach in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The pact between Adnoc and RWE sets out a framework for collaboration on liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries to Germany and other European markets, amounting to as much as 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) for up to 10 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The two companies will also look at working together on LNG trading, regasification capacity in Germany and Europe and wider opportunities across gas and LNG, Adnoc said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adnoc.ae\/en\/news-and-media\/press-releases\/2026\/uae-and-germany-deepen-energy-ties-as-german-chancellor-visits-adnoc-hq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Masdar and RWE signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on identifying and pursuing investments in battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Germany.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Masdar will consider investing by 2030 in existing BESS projects owned by RWE, with capacity of up to 1 gigawatt. In addition, they will assess the joint development of new BESS projects of up to 1 GW by 2035.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The agreements were signed in the presence of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.<\/p>\n<p>A UAE-Germany \u201cEnergy Security and Industry Accelerator\u201d agreement was inked in September 2022 to accelerate projects of joint interest between the two countries in energy security, decarbonisation and climate action.
