play his first tournament since suspension at this year\u2019s Italian Open.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/how-some-atp-players-have-reacted-behind-the-scenes-to-jannik-sinners-ban-and-how-italian-tennis-fans-feel-about-him-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinner was suspended<\/a> from tennis in February after testing positive for clostebol on two separate occasions last year. <\/p>\n<p>The world number one has now served his ban, and will feature at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/italian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian Open<\/a> in Rome, the fifth Masters 1000 tournament of the season. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sinner<\/a>\u2018s last match was the Australian Open final, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/jannik-sinner-explains-why-winning-his-second-australian-open-title-feels-different-to-his-first-one\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he emerged victorious against Alexander Zverev<\/a> in straight sets to win his third grand slam title. <\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll play his first match back in his home country, and will practice on Monday with Jiri Lehecka, a player he has never lost to. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" Lehecka announced as Jannik Sinner\u2019s first practice partner since suspension<\/p>\n<p>23-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jiri-lehecka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lehecka<\/a> will practice with Sinner on Monday ahead of their first matches in Rome. <\/p>\n<p>The two will practice before Sinner will face questions from the media for the first time since being suspended in February. <\/p>\n<p>This will be Sinner\u2019s sixth appearance at the Italian Open, which he has never won. <\/p>\n<p>His best finish came in 2022 when he reached the quarter-finals, before bowing out to Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. <\/p>\n<p>Sinner\u2019s current 21-match winning streak <\/p>\n<p>Despite not playing for three months, Sinner still sits nearly 2000 points clear at the top of the ATP rankings, and still holds an ongoing streak of 21 wins. <\/p>\n<p>The streak dates back to October, where after losing the China Open final to Carlos Alcaraz, the Italian went on to win three high-level tournaments in a row. <\/p>\n<p>After losing to Alcaraz, Sinner won the Shanghai Masters, overcoming Novak Djokovic in the final to hold the trophy aloft. <\/p>\n<ul class=\"inline-links multi\">\n<li>Shanghai Masters \u2013 Defeated Djokovic in the final 7-6, 6-3<\/li>\n<li>ATP Finals \u2013 Defeated Fritz in the final 6-4, 6-4<\/li>\n<li>Australian Open \u2013 Defeated Zverev in the final 6-3, 7-6, 6-3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He then emerged victorious at the ATP Finals in Turin, where he won the tournament wihtout dropping a set. <\/p>\n<p>In his last tournament before suspension at the Australian Open, Sinner won his third major title in convincing fashion. <\/p>\n<p>Sinner will now look to regain the red-hot form he was
