Late strikes from Alejandro Garnacho and Amad pulled the scoreline back to look more respectable.<\/p>\n<p>A player who drew some praise after the game was one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/match-coverage\/61-touch-man-utd-star-has-become-an-unexpected-creative-force-for-ruben-amorim-five-goal-contributions-in-six-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heroes against Athletic Club<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/manuel-ugarte\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manuel Ugarte<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-2213341101-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Photo by Alex Pantling\/Getty Images\" \/>Photo by Alex Pantling\/Getty ImagesManuel Ugarte praised<\/p>\n<p>Manuel Ugarte was the heart of Manchester United\u2019s midfield with Brazilian ace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/ruben-amorim-explains-genius-behind-making-unwanted-man-utd-star-a-key-player\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Casemiro given a well-earned rest<\/a>, along with a rare break for Bruno Fernandes.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to MUTV after the final whistle, former player Ben Thornley explained: \u201cHe was brilliant, outstanding from beginning to end. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought he was superb. He started the game well, and he finished it.
