The European Commission has presented a plan to counter the increasing security threats<\/strong> posed by drones across the EU<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n In recent years, the EU has faced growing challenges relating to drones, such as hostile overflights, airspace violations, disruptions to airports, and risks to critical infrastructure, external borders and public spaces.<\/p>\n The new plan represents an ambitious blueprint for stronger EU cooperation and solidarity<\/strong> and paves the way for a united EU approach\u00a0<\/strong>against drone threats. It focuses on the civilian internal security<\/strong>, while complementing ongoing defence efforts<\/strong>. In addition, the plan contributes to the development of a competitive European drone market<\/strong>, unlocking the potential for innovation, growth, and job creation.<\/p>\n The plan will support EU countries by complementing national measures and focusing on four key priorities\u00a0<\/p>\n The Commission will soon launch discussions with EU countries based on the principle of co-ownership. It will also work closely with industry and the European Parliament to move the plan forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n The new plan builds on the 2023 communication on countering potential drone threats<\/a> and replaces its midterm review and the\u00a0drone strategy 2.0<\/a>. The Commission remains committed to strengthening EU security.
