BoxRec does show Oliver McCall, but he’s not on the poster and he’s being actively promoted for June instead. Everyone agrees you’ll get Kalliopi Kourouni, referred to only as “Pink Tyson” because people are scared of Greek phonics. Robbie Cockrell is the main listed Music… But original CountryBox: Where Music Meets Boxing Music representative Leon Everette is also cited as a performer this time. I liked his version of “The Race Is On” from the inaugural CountryBox: Where Music Meets Boxing show!

Friday, May 9

DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, OTX 13. Like a comic book crossover event, this is an Overtime Boxing show happening at the Red Owl facility in Houston. Andreas Katzourakis headlines against Roberto Cruz. Will someone’s “0” have to go? You know it will!

DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Boxing Insider. Andy Dominguez vs Nelvis Rodriguez is your main event. Dominguez went distance with Yankiel Rivera in his only pro loss, while Rodriguez enters on a two fight losing streak. Blake “Biscuits” Hendershott makes his pro debut

DAZN, 8:30 pm ET, Most Valuable Promotions. A Jake Paul promotions prospect show out of Orlando. Dainier Pero faces Cesar Navarro in the main event. Eight support fights listed on BoxRec, but none run longer than 8 rounds.

Saturday, May 10

DAZN, 1:30 pm ET, Anthony Cacace vs Leigh Wood. For the IBO super featherweight title! Cacace upset Joe Cordina last May, passed on an IBF mandatory to fight Josh Warrington, and ultimately dropped the IBF belt to continue making more lucrative domestic fights. Now, he’ll face Leigh Wood, who gave us a FOTY against Michael Conlan back in 2022 and a busy 2023 where he split a pair of fights with Mauricio Lara and beat Josh Warrington. But, Wood hasn’t fought in 19 months, moves up in weight here, and has spoken publicly about officially retiring by the end of this year. Still, I want to believe in this matchup… So, I will! Liam Davies and Sam Noakes also appear in support fights. BLH will have live updates

ESPN+, 2:30 pm ET, Nico Ali Walsh vs Ebenezer Sowah. From Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, at least until such time as the process of relocating the seat of government to Ciudad de la Paz is complete. Walsh was last seen suffering his second pro defeat, by split decision in a six-rounder back on Valentine’s Day. Better than being left for dead on a brickpile behind an Oklahoma casino, but otherwise not great for a young man’s career prospects. OR SO IT WOULD SEEM! Because now, Walsh headlines a televised show against Sowah, a 7-0-1 (7 KO) Ghanian who only fought in Ghana before now, building his record against opponents who were a collective 18-71. The matchup isn’t listed on BoxRec, so no clue who appears on the undercard.

ESPN+, 5:30 pm ET, Emanuel Navarrete vs Charly Suarez. The main portion appears on ESPN, too, but there’s potentially good stuff on these streaming-only prelims, too – Sebastian Hernandez vs Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan in particular looks like potentially 8 rounds of action and madness. It’s the main event that sells tickets, though, and this one features Navarrete defending his WBO super featherweight belt against Charly Suarez. Suarez is 36, a former Olympian, and getting his first real big break as a pro after several scuppered fights that could have raised his profile over the years, had his opponents followed through with them. The chief support is an IBF interim lightweight world title fight between Zaur Abdullaev and Ray Muratalla. BLH will have live updates

ProBox TV, 6:30 pm ET, Erickson Lubin vs Ardreal Holmes. From the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida. Nice little matchup here, but ProBox once again runs head-to-head with a major promotion event. And, as I’ve done so often since they abandoned their Wednesday night showcases, I’ll be spending the middle of my week sitting quietly in the living room while my wife watches an episode of “Hacks” or “Call the Midwife.” I miss you, ProBox Wednesdays. And I miss the likes of Nicklaus Flaz, Darrelle Valsaint, Najee Lopez, and Dominic Valle, all of whom gave good Wednesday night fights, and all of whom are listed in support on this card.

Tuesday, May 6 TrillerTV+, 8:00 pm ET, CountryBox: Where Music Meets Boxing.
