{"id":758630,"date":"2026-02-12T03:53:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T03:53:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/758630\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T03:53:28","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T03:53:28","slug":"uks-favourite-supermarket-revealed-according-to-customer-satisfaction-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/758630\/","title":{"rendered":"UK\u2019s favourite supermarket revealed, according to customer satisfaction survey"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Marks &amp; Spencer is the nation\u2019s favourite supermarket despite customers saying its \u201chigher prices\u201d make it a destination for treats rather than a weekly shop, according to an annual survey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The high street stalwart\u2019s food halls achieved a clear lead of 78% in the Which? customer satisfaction survey, with shoppers awarding it five stars for customer service, store appearance, product range and availability, as well as the quality of its own-label and fresh food.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Its top billing came despite customers giving it just two stars for value for money, with many saying it was a destination for \u201coccasional treats\u201d rather than a full weekly shop.<\/p>\n<p>    <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/9eb9068dc4530e62457e5196d9ab9dc7.png\" alt=\"Supermarkets have been ranked (Which?\/PA)\" loading=\"eager\" height=\"265\" width=\"681\" class=\"yf-lglytj  loaded\"\/> Supermarkets have been ranked (Which?\/PA)      <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The lower score for value meant M&amp;S missed out on Which? naming it as a \u201cRecommended Provider\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Tesco achieved a joint second-highest in-store score of 76% with Aldi, and also ranked joint first for online shopping alongside Waitrose with a score of 81%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Tesco received four stars for customer service, store appearance, product range and overall quality, and did not score below three stars in any category, including value for money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">However, Tesco also missed out on \u201cRecommended Provider\u201d status because its Clubcard discounts are not available to everyone, Which? said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Aldi was the only supermarket to receive the \u201cRecommended Provider\u201d label for in-store shopping, achieving the highest rating for value for money \u2013 four out of five stars \u2013 along with Lidl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Shoppers suggested they were willing to overlook slightly weaker scores for Aldi\u2019s store appearance, customer service and grocery quality in exchange for consistently low prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Both Ocado and Sainsbury\u2019s ranked highly for their online offer, scoring 80% and 79% overall.<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==\" alt=\"The main supermarkets were given ratings (Which?\/PA)\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"285\" width=\"685\" class=\"yf-lglytj loader\"\/> The main supermarkets were given ratings (Which?\/PA)      <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">At the other end of the rankings, Asda and Morrisons were joint bottom for in-store shopping, with both receiving a customer score of 68%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Asda, which is losing market share to the discounters, according to latest Worldpanel figures, also ranked last for online shopping with a score of 71%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Shoppers criticised long queues, poor customer service and product quality at Asda.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Morrisons customers complained about empty shelves and fresh food going off quickly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Both Asda and Morrisons also scored lower for value for money among loyalty scheme members, suggesting they were not delivering meaningful benefits for shoppers, Which? said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Reena Sewraz, Which? retail editor, said: \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt that shoppers value M&amp;S for its in-store experience and product quality. However, some people feel its higher prices put it out of reach for a regular weekly shop.
