{"id":7593,"date":"2025-04-10T10:26:10","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T10:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/7593\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T10:26:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T10:26:10","slug":"red-bull-name-replacement-for-max-verstappen-in-fp1-at-f1-bahrain-grand-prix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/7593\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Bull name replacement for Max Verstappen in FP1 at F1 Bahrain Grand Prix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Max Verstappen will skip FP1 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F1 <\/a>Bahrain Grand Prix on Friday.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Formula 1 champion will be replaced in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/teams\/red-bull-racing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Bull<\/a> by\u00a0Ayumu Iwasa for the session.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Multiple teams are choosing to fulfil their obligations to rookie drivers in F1 practice sessions this weekend.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">FP1 in Bahrain is held at a different time, in expected warmer conditions, than qualifying or the grand prix so is somewhat unrepresentative of what will follow.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It therefore represents a good opportunity for F1 teams, including Red Bull, to give their future talent a go, as the rules permit they must.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, Haas, Aston Martin, and Williams will all field a young driver in FP1 in Bahrain.<\/p>\n<p>Max Verstappen skips FP1 at F1 Bahrain GP<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/852\/max-verstappen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Verstappen <\/a>and the other senior F1 drivers will return for the second practice session.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Verstappen\u2019s replacement Iwasa is no stranger to F1 sessions, though.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Japanese driver has completed FP1 duties for Red Bull\u2019s sister team, in Japan and Abu Dhabi, last year.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Iwasa also drove in the 2024 postseason Abu Dhabi test.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">But this will be his first time in the Red Bull &#8211; he becomes the latest driver, after Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, to handle the difficult RB21.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tsunoda, Verstappen\u2019s newest teammate, will remain in his car for FP1 as he clocks up valuable laps in the RB21.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bahrain is just Tsunoda\u2019s second round driving for Red Bull after replacing Lawson, who is back at Racing Bulls.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Although Tsunoda has received backing already, he will want to immediately out-perform Racing Bulls\u2019 Lawson and get as close as possible to Verstappen in Bahrain.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribe to our F1 Newsletter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Max Verstappen will skip FP1 at the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix on Friday.
