{"id":760170,"date":"2026-02-12T19:48:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T19:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/760170\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T19:48:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T19:48:14","slug":"church-seeks-tong-road-planning-permission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/760170\/","title":{"rendered":"Church seeks Tong Road planning permission"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>By John Baron<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Leeds based church could open in part of a former blinds and curtains shop off Tong Road, in Upper Wortley.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/rccg.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Redeemed Christian Church of God<\/a><\/strong> (RCCG) Power Connections has submitted a planning application to Leeds City Council to change the use of the building to a place of worship.<\/p>\n<p>External alterations are limited to new windows, and the application states the ground floor will include a reception\/lounge, teenagers\u2019 meeting space, toilets, kitchen and five children\u2019s classrooms. <\/p>\n<p>The first floor would include a platform and church hall, four offices, toilets and a nursing mothers\u2019 room. It would be accessible via stairs and a disabled lift.<\/p>\n<p>The existing church congregation comprises around 200 members.<\/p>\n<p>A planning statement accompanying the application states: \u201cAt their current location [<a href=\"https:\/\/rccgpowerconnectionsleeds.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in Meanwood<\/a>], no more than 30 cars park at the site for a Sunday service. The church operates three minibuses that transport members to and from the site. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA large section of the congregation comprises university students and young adults who do not drive.
