Last week, in a make-up free interview with her friend, podcaster Jamie Kern Lima, the Duchess of Sussex revealed she and Harry, 40, were currently in their \u201choneymoon period<\/a>\u201d and \u201cenjoying each other in a new way\u201d, just a few weeks shy of their seventh wedding anniversary on 19 May.<\/p>\n

Her emotional comments came just a week after she declared at a major public speaking event in New York that she was the \u201chappiest she\u2019d ever been\u201d<\/a>. However, a source claims to new that her words surprised many listeners. \u201cMeghan wants everyone to move on from the talk of divorce, but some of what she said wasn\u2019t particularly relatable, and that\u2019s probably why a lot of people were shocked,\u201d they claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe and Harry love each other and would love to put an end to the speculation once and for all, because it\u2019s hurtful and they\u2019ve been through so much together. Meghan wants to tell everyone how close they are, and she speaks passionately because that\u2019s her personality, but it doesn\u2019t always land the way she wants it to.<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry is dealing with quite a few difficult things, like stepping down from his charity<\/a>, and his security court case, so hearing her say they\u2019re in a \u2018honeymoon period\u2019 was quite surprising,\u201d the source continued. Her \u201choneymoon\u201d confession on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast was the latest in a string of personal disclosures by Meghan, 43, who appears to be ramping up her public appearances after a much quieter previous 12 months.<\/p>\n

Chatting warmly about life in California with her husband and children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, Meghan used an unusual analogy to describe Harry\u2019s role in the family, likening their marriage to the Super Mario Bros<\/a> computer game. \u201cH, that man loves me so much and you know, look what we\u2019ve built,\u201d she said emotionally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have built a beautiful life and we have two healthy, beautiful children. I always think about it, when you get to the end of Super Mario Bros, the final, final level, and what\u2019s the goal? \u201cIt\u2019s to slay the dragons and save the princess. And that\u2019s my husband, he is just out there and constantly doing whatever he can to make sure our family is safe and protected and that we are uplifted \u2013 and still make time for date nights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan\u2019s interview was in stark contrast to Harry\u2019s recent words about the legal fight against the Home Office<\/a> over the family\u2019s level of security protection while in the UK, which he confessed left him \u201cemotional and overwhelmed\u201d \u2013 and our source claims the differences haven\u2019t gone unnoticed.<\/p>\n

According to our source, \u201cMeghan\u2019s words could well have the opposite effect to what she wanted. Some of it seemed pretty over the top, but other parts came across as quite flippant, especially her comparisons with a Super Mario game. But she\u2019s a very positive person and understandably doesn\u2019t like the negative rumours.\u201d<\/p>\n

As well as addressing her relationship with Harry, Meghan also touched on her own journey of self-growth, telling podcast host Jamie that she finally feels confident in who she is. \u201cI know that I\u2019m a great friend, and I know the kind of mum I am, and I know the kind of human being I am, and I know how I show up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I love being able to be that person with the people that I love.\u201d Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told new a big part of Meghan\u2019s confidence is likely to come from her being her own boss again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m glad Meghan and Harry seem so happy now, she clearly feels they\u2019ve found their feet and put their traumatic past behind them,\u201d she said. \u201cThese days it seems to be all about Meghan \u2013 and that\u2019s fair enough. She\u2019s a successful, independent woman earning her own way in life and with the man she loves at her side.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always believed that part of the problem was that Meghan never understood that she would not be CEO of the Firm she was joining \u2013 the royal family<\/a> \u2013 and she wouldn\u2019t even be managing director. She would be part of the team. And that perhaps is not her greatest forte, fair enough. Now she is making her own way in life again and she has a husband she loves and children she clearly adores.\u201d<\/p>\n
