{"id":762647,"date":"2026-02-13T22:02:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T22:02:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/762647\/"},"modified":"2026-02-13T22:02:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T22:02:14","slug":"swansea-man-who-killed-brother-in-frenzied-attack-jailed-for-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/762647\/","title":{"rendered":"Swansea man who killed brother in &#8216;frenzied attack&#8217; jailed for life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Darren Steel claimed he had acted in self-defence and that his brother had attacked him first.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Judge Walters said that although he could not be sure of that, the attack was &#8220;vicious, sustained and seriously out of proportion of any proportion of any violence he offered you&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The judge added it was because he &#8220;had a perception that day that someone had stolen your drugs&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A statement read on behalf of Diane Steel, the pair&#8217;s mother, said she had been &#8220;expecting to spend the afternoon shopping with my son and I had no idea my world was about to come crashing down&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Every night I see Martin slumped in his chair, beaten to a pulp and covered in blood,&#8221; the statement added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Part of me died with Martin that day.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Darren Steel claimed he had acted in self-defence and that his brother had attacked him first.
