This involves both expanding existing factories and building new ones.<\/p>\n<p>The company, known among other things for producing CAESAR self-propelled howitzers and Leopard 2 main battle tanks, is currently working on increasing production volumes. This was announced by its CEO Jean-Paul Alary, writes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hartpunkt.de\/knds-will-in-den-naechsten-jahren-ueber-eine-milliarde-euro-in-deutschland-investieren\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hartpunkt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/5e3698f5a34bf183.jpeg\" alt=\"CAESAR howitzer production\"\/>CAESAR howitzer production \/ Photo credit: KNDS France<\/p>\n<p>Most investments are expected to be made this year and next. Such timelines are explained in part by the fact that starting in 2028, there will be a significant increase in product deliveries to Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the new capacity will quite likely be deployed at old neglected sites. An example is given of KNDS Germany purchasing the Alstom plant for armored vehicle production, which was facing closure.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/39f698f5a44bfb3c.webp.webp\" alt=\"GTK Boxer with RCT 30 turret\"\/>GTK Boxer with RCT 30 turret \/ Photo credit: ARTEC<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the company&#8217;s CEO is aware of the complexity of increasing production volumes and talks about expanding process automation. Expansion of the component supply chain is also planned, such as for GTK Boxer infantry fighting vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Equipment mentioned includes tripling output of armored vehicles under the French Scorpion program. They also support the MGCS next-generation European tank project, although they view it as a long-term solution still under development, offering other KNDS solutions in the meantime.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2ca698f5a506df36.jpeg\" alt=\"Griffon and Jaguar armored vehicles from Scorpion program\"\/>Griffon and Jaguar armored vehicles from Scorpion program \/ Photo credit: Arm\u00e9e de Terre<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.defence-ua.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Defense Express<\/a> notes that what was said about MGCS corresponds to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.defence-ua.com\/news\/knds_and_rheinmetall_launch_leopard_3_tank_development_for_germany_as_mgcs_is_planned_for_the_2040s-16835.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Germany&#8217;s existing plans to purchase an interim tank<\/a>. At the same time, there are currently doubts about the project&#8217;s future due to slow progress, forcing France to worry about the lack of a Leclerc replacement.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the overall expansion of KNDS capabilities in Germany will most likely be directed toward armored vehicles.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/008698f5a62d172f.jpeg\" alt=\"MGCS next-generation tank demonstrator\"\/>MGCS next-generation tank demonstrator \/ Open source photo<\/p>\n<p> Currently, planned Leopard 2A8 tank production volumes are planned to be increased, in part to make them cheaper.
