Updated:<\/strong> Sat 14th Feb<\/p>\n Families across Wales are being encouraged to visit historic castles, abbeys and monuments during the February half term.<\/p>\n Cadw, the Welsh Government\u2019s historic environment service, says it offers affordable days out for visitors of all ages at more than 130 sites across the country.<\/p>\n According to Cadw\u2019s Peak Season Visitor Survey 2025, more than 85% of visitors rated their overall experience as good, with almost two in five describing their visit as better than expected.<\/p>\n The organisation says many people are unaware of the range of activities available at its monuments, from guided interpretation and trails to winter walks in scenic settings.<\/p>\n Among the sites highlighted for families are Raglan Castle and Beaumaris Castle, while couples are encouraged to consider Tintern Abbey or Valle Crucis Abbey.<\/p>\n Visitors interested in medieval history can explore Caerphilly Castle, which recently introduced updated interpretation in areas including the Great Hall and Inner East Gatehouse.<\/p>\n In North Wales, Castell Caernarfon is promoted as one of the country\u2019s best-preserved castles.<\/p>\n For a more interactive experience, the Caerleon Roman Baths Guessing Game Trail runs daily throughout half term, allowing visitors to explore a Roman bathhouse through hands-on activities.<\/p>\n Cadw says winter visits can offer a quieter experience at locations such as Chepstow Castle and Castell Cricieth.<\/p>\n Membership options are available for individuals, families and seniors, providing unlimited access to sites year-round and additional discounts.
