If you’ve ever visited the beach in Benidorm, you’ve likely noticed a small uninhabited island just off the coast in the Mediterranean Sea. Known as Benidorm Island, it’s still often referred to by its original name, Peacock Island<\/a>.<\/p>\n Frank the Stag Man, a social media personality who offers customised hen and stag do packages in the Spanish resort, recently took to TikTok<\/a> with his partner, Jade Benidorm, to share some insights about this peculiar spot. “I call it ‘Bird Poop Island’ because there are no peacocks on it, it’s just covered in bird poo,” Jade revealed<\/a>.<\/p>\n Located approximately 3km from the Costa Blanca coast, she warned that anyone thinking they can easily swim to it is in for a surprise. She explained: “It looks about 50m away and I know people have tried [to swim there], but they ended up being rescued by the lifeboats.”<\/p>\n Frank queried: “Is there any other interesting facts you’d like to tell us about this amazing but quite useless Peacock Island?”<\/p>\n Jade mentioned a tourist boat with a “submarine bottom” ferries visitors to the island for half-day trips.<\/p>\n “There’s a cafe on it that’s probably going to be over-charging for a coffee in the middle of nowhere,” she quipped. However, Jade did note one redeeming feature of the island – dolphins can occasionally be spotted swimming around it.<\/p>\n Responding to their post, one former visitor to Peacock Island enthused: “I loved it, got a boat out then you go in a glass bottom boat that takes you round.<\/p>\n “You see loads different fish, come off, chill with a few cold beers and if brave you can try and walk round, but seagulls will have you so don’t bother. And some great views.”<\/p>\n
