Sex worker Lily Phillips<\/a>, who shot to fame after sleeping with 101 men in a single day<\/a>, has revealed she watched porn<\/a> for the first time at just 11 years old.<\/p>\n

Speaking on BBC<\/a> Newsnight, the 24-year-old porn star<\/a> revealed to presenter Victoria Derbyshire<\/a> that she always thought sexual content was \u2018very normal to watch\u2019, even at such a young age. <\/p>\n

Lily isn\u2019t alone in being exposed to porn before reaching her teens.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Children\u2019s Commissioner report found that half of children have watched porn<\/a> by 13, while 27% have watched it by 11<\/a>, and 10% of kids have seen it by just nine years old.<\/p>\n

The report found that pornography<\/a> exposure is so widespread and \u2018normalised\u2019 that children cannot \u2018opt-out\u2019 of seeing it.<\/p>\n

But while Lily claims viewing such content was \u2018positive\u2019, the report shows those who do are more likely to engage in \u2018physically aggressive sex acts\u2019.<\/p>\n

The adult performer shared a different outlook, though. \u2018It made me really sex confident\u2026 I learnt through pornography<\/a>,\u2019 she explained. \u2018I think it had a positive effect on me.\u2019<\/p>\n

However, Lily has previously admitted to Metro <\/strong>that porn has also given her body image issues. She shared that she\u2019d had labiaplasty<\/a> after being influenced by unrealistic body standards in porn.<\/p>\n

\u2018In comparison to what I\u2019d seen online and what I\u2019d seen in porn, my\u00a0vagina<\/a>\u00a0wasn\u2019t the norm,\u2019 she said. <\/p>\n

Victoria also questioned the Derbyshire-born sex worker on whether she felt let down by parents or government<\/a> officials for being exposed to porn so young.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s hard because sex is a part of life,\u2019 Lily replied, as the concerned BBC presenter looked on. \u2018I think you should be learning [about porn] from that age, because that\u2019s when you start to think about things like that.<\/p>\n

\u2018Maybe not learning from pornography, but understanding it from that age would be helpful,\u2019 she adds.<\/p>\n

She continued: \u2018I don\u2019t know life without porn.\u2019<\/p>\n

Victoria also questioned Lily on whether she feels porn has \u2018destroyed her brain\u2019, but she disagreed.<\/p>\n

\u2018I didn\u2019t watch it often enough, so I don\u2019t think it\u2019s destroyed me, but I do think it\u2019s destroyed people my age,\u2019 Lily explained. \u2018There\u2019s porn I make with average guys which is normal sex\u2026 I\u2019d like to say that\u2019s relatable and wouldn\u2019t damage your brain.\u2019<\/p>\n

There are currently measures being taken to try and prevent children watching porn, with Ofcom mandating that all porn sites must introduce effective age-verification measures<\/a> by July this year.<\/p>\n

The British Board of Film Classification found that 62% of 11 to 13-year-olds stumbled across porn unintentionally and described feeling \u2018grossed out\u2019 and \u2018confused\u2019 by what they saw.<\/p>\n

\nHow catastrophic is watching porn at 11?<\/p>\n

Psychosexual therapist Natasha Silverman<\/a> sees countless clients who have felt the long-term impacts of being exposed to porn at a young age.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018Porn skews the perception of sex so dramatically that men and women and have assumptions of what their partner will like sexually, because porn has set the tone,\u2019 Natasha tells Metro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2018I had a teenage boy tell me he thought it was normal to never lose an erection<\/a>, and he thought he had a micropenis<\/a> because of what he\u2019d seen in porn, which medically wasn\u2019t the case.\u2019<\/p>\n

The therapist explains that the days of the \u2018birds and the bees\u2019 chat sufficing are behind us.<\/p>\n

Natasha explains: \u2018The concern isn\u2019t just the porn itself but about what happens when young people encounter such adult content before they\u2019ve received any meaningful, age-appropriate sex education<\/a> from parents or schools.<\/p>\n

\u2018Children\u2019s brains are simply not equipped to process this content without support. When no one talks to them about sex, porn fills the gap \u2013 and what they see becomes internalised as part of their sexual blueprint as \u201cnormal\u201d, when in actual fact what they see can bears little resemblance to real-life intimacy.\u2019<\/p>\n

She adds that the young men and women coming to see her now have increasing problems with intimacy and safe consensual sex<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a documentary made by YouTuber Josh Pieters titled: I Slept With 100 Men in One Day, Lily can be seen breaking down after having sex with more than 100 men.<\/p>\n

While Lily previously told\u00a0Metro\u00a0<\/strong>she enjoyed the \u2018extreme\u2019 challenge and was passionate about her\u00a0sex work<\/a>, in these behind-the-scenes shots, taken in the hours afterwards, she appears far more vulnerable.<\/p>\n

Josh asks Lily how she\u2019s feeling, her eyes red from a combination of bodily fluids and crying.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s not for the weak girls, if I\u2019m honest \u2013 it was hard,\u2019 she says through tears. \u2018I don\u2019t know if I\u2019d recommend it. It\u2019s a different feeling. It\u2019s just one in one out, it feels intense.\u2019<\/p>\n

This causes Lily to break down, and she barely manages to sob the word \u2018definitely,\u2019 before walking off into the next room, inconsolable.<\/p>\n

Trying to explain why she\u2019s so rattled to Josh, Lily says: \u2018I had to stop the interactions early\u2026 and say \u201cI\u2019m sorry you\u2019ve got to go\u201d.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018There was the awkward interaction of you feeling pressure to make them cum if you haven\u2019t spent enough time with them and you didn\u2019t give them a good time.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s hard having the interactions with them when they\u2019re like \u201cyou\u2019re not going to make me finish? I\u2019ve come all this way\u201d, kind of guilt tripping me a bit.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Women tell me frequently they\u2019ve been with a sexual partner who immediately put their hand around their neck, which they\u2019re not into,\u2019 she says. \u2018They\u2019re coming to see me with pain conditions because they\u2019ve watched porn and have a skewed perception of what it means to become aroused.<\/p>\n

\u2018They\u2019re also engaging in sex they don\u2019t want to have to prove they\u2019re enough to be in a relationship<\/a> \u2013 there\u2019s a lot of tolerating what they don\u2019t like because the boundaries are being pushed so far in porn.\u2019<\/p>\n

As concerning as this is, Natasha says there\u2019s simply no way we can stop children watching porn, because \u2018it\u2019s everywhere\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018The only option apart from living in a bubble is to have conversations with children,\u2019 she says. \u2018They need to know there\u2019s no shame and no blame if they watch something.<\/p>\n

\u2018If they watch something shocking or disturbing, it\u2019s really hard for people to look away. We can\u2019t punish children for being exposed to something \u2013 they\u2019re curious.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ultimately, children\u2019s developing brains are not prepared to interpret explicit content without context, which can lead to distorted expectations and perceptions of sex, relationships, and consent, according to the therapist.<\/p>\n

\u2018Help them feel safe discussing their experiences and questions, by telling them that encountering such content is not their fault \u2013 it is normal to find it hard to look away when confronted with shocking or confusing image,\u2019 she says.<\/p>\n

\u2018They need to know that they can always approach a trusted adult for support.\u2019<\/p>\n
