\n It was late heartbreak on Valentine’s Day for Portsmouth, who fall to another narrow defeat in the Championship.\n <\/p>\n
Pompey suffered back-to-back Championship defeats for the first time since December following a 90th-minute winner from Andre Brooks at Fratton Park, which earned Sheffield United all 3 points.<\/p>\n
The defeat now means that Portsmouth drop down to 21st, one point above Leicester City in 22nd, who were in FA Cup action.<\/p>\n
There were 2 changes to the XI that narrowly lost away at Preston North End last Saturday.<\/p>\n
Colby Bishop returned to the XI for Jacob Brown, and John Swift replaced the absent Conor Chaplin.<\/p>\n
Pompey had a plethora of chances to open the score in the first half, but ultimately failed to find an opening.<\/p>\n
Millenic Alli played in Swift, who tapped a parried ball away from Michael Cooper onto the inside of the post 15 minutes gone.<\/p>\n
Bishop then had the ball in the back of the net at one point when he thumped home a cleared ball.<\/p>\n
However, Ebou Adams collided with Japhet Tanganga before the goal, and to Pompey’s frustration, referee James Linington gave The Blades the advantage.<\/p>\n

Chris Wilder’s side did begin to grow into the game in the second 45, and almost\u00a0scored via Tyler Bindon, but Nicolas Scmid comfortably caught the New Zealand international’s\u00a0header.<\/p>\n
Jacob Brown, on his Fratton Park debut, was not far off scoring with his first touch of the ball, when Cooper only just caught Marlon Pack’s corner.<\/p>\n
But it was a bitter ending for John Mousinho’s side, when in the dying embers\u00a0of normal time, Brooks tapped in Tyrese Campbell’s ball to the back post to seal the 3 points late on.<\/p>\n
The Blues did have a chance to find a response, but Alli’s effort at goal was pushed onto the inside of the post by Cooper in Pompey’s last attack of the afternoon.<\/p>\n
