A Merseyside hotel was evacuated as firefighters battled a blaze. Fire crews<\/a> were called to the Mercure hotel in Haydock<\/a> at 7.25pm on Saturday, February 14 to reports of a fire<\/a> in a room.<\/p>\n

Hotel guests sent footage from the scene as the hotel was evacuated, showing several fire engines <\/a>outside the front of the hotel. Three fire<\/a> engines arrived within four minutes of the call. One eyewitness said police also attended the scene.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said the fire <\/a>was discovered on the first floor and was extinguished at 7.46pm. A full evacuation and roll call took place, with all persons accounted for.<\/p>\n

Neighbouring rooms were checked and were confirmed to be clear. Firefighters surveyed the building before guests were allowed back into their rooms.<\/p>\n

Police and paramedics also attended. Emergency services left the scene at 8.22pm.<\/p>\n
