Reigning champions France, meanwhile, put on a show at the tournament opener in Paris, dispatching Ireland 36-14.<\/p>\n

They ran rampant in the first half, scoring 22 unanswered, but let their advantage slip as Ireland finally found a groove after the break.<\/p>\n

Wales are in dire need of an unlikely win here, though, after they came away from last year\u2019s tournament with the wooden spoon.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the defeat by England, captain Dewi Lake said: “We let ourselves down and let people down.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe spoke all week about what we were going to produce and we didn’t do it.<\/p>\n

“There’s no other way to say it. We’re massively disappointed with what we put on the field. We know we’re going to be better next weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether Wales can deliver on that promise in front of the home support, though.<\/p>\n
