A Birmingham man has been charged with rape of a child under 16.<\/p>\n

Police arrested Mohamed Ayash from an address in Leasow Drive, Edgbaston<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old was arrested from the property in the residential street on Saturday, May 3.<\/p>\n

He was later charged with rape of a child under 16.<\/p>\n

Ayash, of Leasow Drive<\/a>, was remanded in custody.<\/p>\n

He was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today, May 5.<\/p>\n

Residents reported online that police remained in Leasow Drive<\/a> on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> issued a statement on the charge this afternoon.<\/p>\n

A force spokesperson told BirminghamLive<\/a>: “We arrested a man in connection with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.<\/p>\n

“A 29-year-old man was arrested from an address in Leasow Drive, Birmingham<\/a>, on Saturday, May 3.<\/p>\n
