Amelie Mauresmo thinks she knows what Richard Gasquet may go into once he retires from tennis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Frenchman is set to retire from the sport in 2025 after more than two decades on the ATP Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old is set to hang up his racket after playing in front of his home fans one last time at the French Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ahead of his farewell event, the clay court Grand Slam\u2019s tournament director and compatriot Amelie Mauresmo thinks she has an idea of what Gasquet may do in the future.<\/p>\n

The French Open is a special tournament to Richard Gasquet<\/a> and all the other Frenchman who have entered the prestigious tournament.<\/p>\n

Therefore, there is no place more fitting for the former World number seven to bring his long career to an end.<\/p>\n

Though he may no longer be playing professional tennis after the French Open, Gasquet has a huge passion for tennis and Mauresmo believes he will offer his expertise to France\u2019s next generation of players.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is another one from Rafa\u2019s generation who is going to take a bow. It will be emotional for Richard,\u201d Mauresmo told the Roland Garros Tennis podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am pretty sure he is going to keep playing tennis, with France and the young ones. He has a passion for this sport which is quite unbelievable.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis longevity in tennis is extraordinary. He has been for more than 20 years for French tennis, such a big character and a face of French tennis and we also want to have a nice ceremony for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gasquet will end his tennis career with over 600 match wins. Among active players, only Novak Djokovic <\/a>has more.<\/p>\n

He claimed 16 ATP titles, and his most recent championship win came in 2023 when he conquered the ASB Classic in Auckland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But the veteran has decided he wants to close this chapter of his life and Gasquet has explained why he felt the French Open was an ideal place to say goodbye to tennis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that it is the best moment for me to do it,\u201d Gasquet told French media outlet L\u2019Equipe<\/a>. \u201cIt is the best tournament to do it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s magnificent, we have the chance being French to be able to stop in these kinds of incredible places.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn end, it\u2019s always complicated, all the former great players always told me it\u2019s not easy to announce. You never know when, how, where.
