<\/p>\nNATS has officially assumed responsibility for all air traffic control (ATC) and engineering services at Birmingham Airport.<\/p>\n
The transition, which was completed at midnight on 31 January, marks a new milestone in the 10-year partnership previously awarded to NATS following a competitive tender process.<\/p>\n

Initially signed in November 2024; the contract necessitated the delivery of a full 12-month readiness programme, which saw NATS and Birmingham Airport work closely to ensure full operational, regulatory and technical alignment ahead of the transition.<\/p>\n
As part of its modernisation, NATS will work closely with the airport to develop a long-term innovation and technology roadmap, which is set to include upgrades to surveillance and communications systems, the integration of future decision-support tools and continued assurance that operational, engineering and safety management processes meet all national and international standards.<\/p>\n

Over 50 air traffic controllers and engineering specialists have formally transferred to NATS under TUPE arrangements, retaining all existing terms and conditions.<\/p>\n
