{"id":770330,"date":"2026-02-17T11:51:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T11:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/770330\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T11:51:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T11:51:13","slug":"q-tour-europe-the-race-to-spain-event-6-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/770330\/","title":{"rendered":"Q Tour Europe &#8211; The Race to Spain | Event 6 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The race to top this season\u2019s WPBSA Q Tour Europe will run to the seventh and final tournament at the Landywood Snooker Club later this month, following <a href=\"https:\/\/wpbsa.com\/carty-wins-q-tour-crown-in-belgium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victory for Ashley Carty in Mons<\/a> last weekend.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As in previous seasons, the top ranked player following the conclusion of the seventh and final event will earn an automatic two-year WST place for the 2026\/27 and 2027\/28 campaigns, with a minimum of 16 further players to qualify for the season-end Global Playoffs to contest three further tour cards.<\/p>\n<p>Winners of each Q Tour Europe event are guaranteed a spot in the Global Play-Offs meaning that Hammad Miah, Peter Lines, Simon Blackwell, Jamie Clarke and now Carty have already secured their places.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-111701\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Clarke-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Clarke in Pole Position<\/p>\n<p>Two-time Q Tour Europe event winner <strong>Jamie Clarke<\/strong> remains the favourite to secure top spot and with it a return to the World Snooker Tour despite an early exit in Belgium last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Another deep run at the event could have seen him secure the coveted two-year tour card, but a last 32 defeat to Germany\u2019s Umut Dikme means that the race will continue to Landywood.<\/p>\n<p>With a lead of 4,380 points to second placed <strong>Peter Lines<\/strong>, a run to the final of Event 7 would be enough to guarantee Clarke the season-end number one ranking, while a semi-final run would be sufficient unless Lines were to win the title.<\/p>\n<p>Third placed <strong>Hammad Miah<\/strong> can already be discounted, with the former professional having already secured his WST return by virtue of his victory at last month\u2019s WSF Championship, meaning that fourth placed <strong>Oliver Sykes<\/strong> is the next placed challenger. The 20-year-old must reach at least the final with Clarke losing first match, while the title would be enough for Sykes if Clarke were to lose before the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n<p>The only other two players in with a mathematical chance of overhauling Clarke are <strong>Craig Steadman<\/strong> and <strong>Stuart Carrington<\/strong>, with both needing the title and hope that the Welshman were to lose before the last 16 and last 64 stages respectively.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20585\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Millington2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The Playoff Race<\/p>\n<p>As in previous seasons, at least 16 places at this season\u2019s Q Tour Global Playoff are up for grabs from this season\u2019s WPBSA Q Tour Europe Rankings.<\/p>\n<p>With top spot and potentially third placed Hammad Miah set to be excluded from this list, qualification could therefore go down to the 18th placed player, currently <strong>Alex Millington<\/strong> with 11,540 points heading to the final counting event.<\/p>\n<p>With 10,000 points available to the winner in Landywood, everyone from 78th placed <strong>Gerard Greene<\/strong> could yet mathematically qualify by lifting the final title of the regular season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The WPBSA Q Tour Europe series concludes with Event Seven at the Landywood Snooker Club from 26 February \u2013 1 March 2026.
