As reported by Sud-Ouest and confirmed to L’Equipe, the first signs are positive. And optimism remains high on the Bordeaux side. However, we will have to wait until midweek or the weekend to get a more precise idea of how long Penaud will be out.

“Once his ankle swelling has gone down, the Bordeaux winger will be able to undergo medical tests. While there is little doubt that he will not play in the next two Top 14 matches (away to Montpellier and home to Castres), his participation in the final against the Saints cannot be ruled out.

“Like Toulouse’s Ange Capuozzo, who returned to competition after three weeks of absence, the Frenchman could be operational in Cardiff.”

READ MORE: Five takeaways as ‘rugby genius’ Louis Bielle-Biarrey stars to end champions’ ‘magnificent reign’

First-time Champions Cup finalists Bordeaux have suggested that Damian Penaud has a fighting chance of making the May…

[4102
2383,12761,225,12,4151,79,16,15
0":"post-77141","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-champions-cup","9":"tag-damian-penaud","10":"tag-home-page","11":"tag-news","12":"tag-rugby","13":"tag-sports","14":"tag-uk","15":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
