Eighteen roads have so far been closed in preparation, the prefecture said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Lucie Chadourne-Facon, director of flood monitoring service Vigicrues, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/planete\/article\/2026\/02\/17\/en-france-des-crues-exceptionnelles-appelees-a-durer-toute-la-semaine_6667034_3244.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Le Monde;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Le Monde<\/a>: \u201cWe have exceptional and widespread flooding across the entire region, which will continue for some time. It\u2019s going to be a very difficult week. Pedro would be the 11th in six weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Orange warnings for \u2018significant danger\u2019 were in place today across the northern coastline, from Rias Baixas in the west all the way to the Basque Country near France.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Northeastern Spain was expected to see stronger winds into Thursday, with Tarragona bearing the brunt of 110 km\/h (68mph) gusts. Barcelona was expected to see maximum wind speeds of 70 km\/h (44 mph).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Andalusia also had orange alerts in place for a high risk of strong winds and rough seas.
