We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"sc-1uza6dc-1 cglitp\">Your support makes all the difference.<\/strong>Read more<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain continue to battle it out in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/sport\/winter-olympics\/curling-winter-olympics-who-gets-hammer-rules-milano-cortina-2026-b2914380.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the curling round robin stage<\/a> in the hunt for more medals at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/winter-olympics\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Winter Olympics<\/a> 2026. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/team-gb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Team GB<\/a> have their work cut out at Milano-Cortina though, with both the men and women requiring results in the closing matches of the round robin to go their way in order to advance to the play-offs.<\/p>\n<p>GB\u2019s men <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/sport\/winter-olympics\/curling-team-gb-canada-bruce-mouat-winter-olympics-b2922256.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">slumped to a 9-5 defeat by Canada<\/a> on Tuesday evening following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/sport\/winter-olympics\/winter-olympics-curling-cheating-controversy-canada-gb-b2921620.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the controversy that erupted over the weekend with cheating accusations<\/a> made against the Canadian team but they hit back in style against the USA on Wednesday afternoon, winning 9-2 after just six ends to remain in the hunt for a medal and play-off spot.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Mouat\u2019s rink are now hopingfor help from elsewhere to seal a top-four spot, needing either Norway or Italy to lose their final match on Thursday morning. Italy face unbeaten Switzerland, while Norway take on already-qualified Canada, so things are looking promising for Team Mouat.<\/p>\n<p>Team GB\u2019s women also face an uphill battle to finish inside the top four, but they snatched the most remarkable of 8-7 victories in their seventh round robin game against the USA this morning to keep their hopes alive.
