He wants to capture all four belts at 147, 154, 160, and 168.

Four-Division Undisputed

Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) holds the IBF welterweight title and is going after the WBA strap held by Eimantas Stanionis this Saturday, April 12th, at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Last year, Jaron, 27, missed out on an opportunity to pick up the WBO title from Brian Norman Jr. when his promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, failed to negotiate a deal.

The $1.7 million that Hearn offered Norman Jr. was rejected, as he wanted an increase of $500,000 to bring it to $2.2 million. The 500K that Norman Jr. wanted was considered too steep. If these are the kinds of problems that Ennis will be confronted with in his attempts at capturing all the belts at 147, 154. 160 and 168.

Hearn’s Investment

It’s just not going to happen. Hearn needs to invest in Boots Ennis the way he would if it were his flagship fighter, Anthony Joshua. Thus far, it’s not happening. Ennis may need to downsize his career goals and just focus on beating the best guys he can under his limited promotional structure. If his name was Anthony Joshua, it would be different.

“I’ve thought about it, but it’s not my goal. I don’t care if I’m 49-0. If I retire at 49, as long as I accomplish what I accomplish in this boxing in this boxing game and I’m a multi-weight division and I fought all the top guys that had belts, I’m fine with 49-0. I wouldn’t try and come back and try and make it 50 or 51 just to beat his record,” said Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis to YSM Sports Media when asked if his goal is to try and surpass Floyd Mayweather’s 50-0 record.

It’s wise for Ennis not to think about breaking Mayweather’s 50-0 record because that’s superficial junk. Mayweather’s record is tainted and fake due to his controversial wins over Jose Luis Castillo and Marcos Maidana in their first fights. The judges bailed Floyd out by giving him wins many boxing fans believe he didn’t deserve.

Mayweather’s record-breaking 50th victory was against former UFC champion Conor McGregor, who was making his debut in boxing with a 0-0 record. Mayweather’s record should have an asterisk next to it, along with a footnote describing the conditions in which he set it.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission arguably should have NEVER sanctioned the Mayweather vs. McGregor as a professional fight. That looked bad having a novice fighting Floyd to break Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record.

Can you imagine the late, great Marciano wanting to fight a non-boxer to break a record? Mayweather stooped to an all-time low by pulling that move rather than taking on Keith Thurman, who was then still fighting and would have been a nightmare for him.

Ennis’ Focus

“As long as I accomplish my goals and beat all the guys I want to beat, that’s all that matters to me,” continued Ennis. “Stamp my mark at 147. Stand my mark at 154, 60, and maybe 168,” said Boots when asked what his goals are before retiring. Try to be undisputed in all those weight classes. So, that’s 147, 154, 160, and 168. So, four-time undisputed weight division champ.”

Boxing News 24 » Jaron Ennis Sets Sights on Making History as a Four-Division Undisputed Champion, But Can Eddie Hearn Deliver?

Last Updated on 04/10/2025

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis says his goal is to become a four-division undisputed champion before he retires from the…

[4108
4924,4922,1935,4925,4923,4332,4331,79,16,15
0":"post-7751","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-boxing","8":"tag-1st","9":"tag-atlantic-city","10":"tag-boxing","11":"tag-face-off","12":"tag-first","13":"tag-mark-robinson","14":"tag-matchroom-boxing","15":"tag-sports","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
