Coventry City striker Haji Wright has only gone and tempted Leeds United to sign him in the summer transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n Frank Lampard\u2019s team retained their lead at the top of the Championship table after a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough on 16 February, courtesy of a hat-trick from the USA international.<\/p>\n Wright has been linked with a move to Elland Road recently<\/a>, and his heroics at the Coventry Building Society Arena will surely tempt the Whites further.<\/p>\n The West Yorkshire outfit may have no time to waste, though, with demand in the 27-year-old likely to increase soon.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Haji Wright can have special season amid Leeds United interest<\/p>\n Wright<\/a> has made 28 appearances for Coventry this season, scoring 13 goals and providing one assist.<\/p>\n As things stand, the Sky Blues are one point clear at the top of the table, but there\u2019s still a long way to go in the race for promotion to the Premier League.<\/p>\n With Canada, Mexico and the USA hosting the 2026 World Cup, the striker may have a significant role to play for Mauricio Pochettino at the summer tournament.<\/p>\n Speaking on talkSPORT on 19 February, Jeff Stelling said, \u201cAs far as Wright is concerned, this could be one heck of a season. He\u2019s a USA international as well. He could be playing for Pochettino in the World Cup on home territory. At the end of a season which he will hope will end in promotion.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n If Wright continues to perform for Lampard and then catches people\u2019s attention at the World Cup, demand for him will surely increase.<\/p>\n The centre-forward\u2019s current contract expires in June 2027, and Coventry may opt to sell him in the summer if they can\u2019t agree on new terms.<\/p>\n Elland Road faithful will have slight concern about Haji Wright transfer<\/p>\n Wright doesn\u2019t have any English top-flight experience, which may count against him at Leeds.<\/p>\n Daniel Farke<\/a> has opted to rely on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha this season, and they\u2019ve done a decent job for him.<\/p>\n Joel Piroe<\/a> has been effectively relegated to being the third choice number nine despite finishing last season as the Championship\u2019s top goalscorer.<\/p>\n No matter how well the American striker plays at Coventry, the Premier League will undoubtedly be a big step up for him, and it remains to be seen whether the West Yorkshire outfit end up signing him at Elland Road<\/a>.<\/p>\n![\"Joel](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PIROE-STAT-819x1024.jpg\")
