Here’s the lowdown on how she lives in London.

Fitzrovia. I was born there and I’ve made my way back. I love the sense of familiarity, I love being able to walk by my primary school every day on the way to work.

Where do you stay in London?

I like my own bed. Sometimes when I book a hotel to get ready I don’t stay the night. But I’ve always wanted to stay at Claridge’s.

Where was your first flat?

Also in Fitzrovia. It was a little council flat in the shadow of the BT Tower.

My dad didn’t let me work until I was 18. He always said: “You’re going to be working your whole life, trust me, just enjoy your youth. So of course I was champing at the bit to work because I wanted to fund my vintage fashion habit. I worked at a sandwich shop off Victoria Street, which was around the corner from my school. I’d get there at 6am and I swear I was the happiest sandwich maker on the planet — I’d get my cheque on Friday and spend every penny on clothes on Portobello Road.

Dave Benett/Getty Images for Stella McCartney

Where would you recommend for a first date?

I love the canals. If the weather’s nice, that’s what I would do. I once made plans to go ona date at Abney Park Cemetery in Stoke Newington, but I was ghosted. I have been on a date there since, though. It might be a bit much for a first date, maybe third.

Which shops do you rely on?

There is a homeopathic pharmacy called Ainsworth near my house, where you can go in and say, listen, I’ve got hay fever, and they’ll mix something up for you. And as far as vintage fashion, I’m still a fan of all the markets. I still go to Portobello on a Friday when I can; I’ll usually start underneath the flyover and end up at Rellik and Found And Vision. And then for new, I love Dover Street Market. I love how it champions young designers — it also has a fab bakery at the top. I love delis, too — there is one near my house called Honey & Spice and it has the best quince jam and Middle Eastern treats.

What’s the best meal you’ve had?

I am a regular at Jikoni. I always dreamed as a kid of going to a place where they knew my name and I had a table and I have reached one of my life goals, because I go there at least twice a month, if not once a week. The food is delicious, Ravinder Bhogal is amazing. I love the kale chaat, made with pomegranates, and the banana cake with miso ice cream.

Who is the most iconic Londoner?

I don’t think she lives in London anymore, but when I was a kid, I loved Björk. She lived in Soho and I used to see her taking her son to school. I lived for my run-ins with Björk. Otherwise, it’s Bill Nighy. I love his haunts, his London, the way he approaches style.

Where do you go to have fun?

I try to go to the theatre if I can. Last night I went to see Dracula, which was fab. Cynthia Erivo is amazing in it.

Getty Images for BFC

What’s the best thing a cabbie has ever said to you?

For my first issue of British Vogue, we shot FKA twigs on top of a cab and we had a real cabbie inside. I took a cab shortly after and they all already knew that we’d shot this cover. So it is like a little secret society.

What’s your biggest extravagance?

I really pamper myself, so I would say self-care. I’m doing every wellness trend going. I get acupuncture at the Light Centre, then Rebase does really good red light and cold plunges.

What’s your London secret?

There is a tiny garden within Regent’s Park that often gets overlooked, called St John’s Lodge Garden. In the summer I go there and lie in the grass and read a book. And I have another for the fashion girls. I’m not very precious with my clothes, so I’m constantly getting stains on myself, and I recently stained this beautiful suede Prada bag with oil and I was distraught. The cobbler at Great Portland Street station magically got it away. When I need anything fixed, this man is unparalleled.

What are you up to for work?

This week is very busy because it’s London Fashion Week, so I will be going to all the shows. Tolu Coker is so talented, Erdem is going to be amazing, Simone Rocha is a big favourite, then obviously we have Burberry ending the week. We are also hosting a big event after the Baftas, our fashion and film party with GQ, and we are running the Vogue Café, at Corner Shop on the Strand.

I think it was really powerful for me to see someone like Sade, a British Nigerian woman who was so fab and had such a style signature. I was also very influenced by Neneh Cherry.

Blackamoor cameo rings, because I think it’s important I reclaim that history. I have some circled in diamonds.

British Vogue editor and born-and-bred Londoner Chioma Nnadi has all the best recommendations for vintage shopping, homoeopathy, and…

[7757
748,58626,393,4884,257,24246,47389,16,15
0":"post-776576","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-london","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-british-vogue","10":"tag-england","11":"tag-great-britain","12":"tag-london","13":"tag-london-fashion-week","14":"tag-my-london","15":"tag-uk","16":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
