The Edinburgh M90 was closed southbound due to an emergency incident on Friday afternoon. Emergency services raced to the major road near to Queensferry Crossing.<\/p>\n

It’s understood the incident took place around 2.47pm on the M90 J1A. Pictures picked up on traffic cameras show the Scottish Fire and Rescue in attendance.<\/p>\n

The exact nature of the incident has not been confirmed but it’s understood to be in relation to a vehicle fire.<\/p>\n

Footage seen by Edinburgh Live shows plumes of smoke as fire crews tackle a blaze. One vehicle was left burnt out at the side of the road.<\/p>\n

Drivers have been urged to expect delays and use an alternative route.<\/p>\n

A statement from Traffic Scotland reads: “The M90 is CLOSED SOUTHBOUND due to an ongoing police incident.<\/p>\n

“Drivers are advised to expect delays to their journey and use an alternative route if possible.”<\/p>\n
