Parts of Inverness and Aberdeen will be covered under 27 cm of snow per hour, the weather maps have suggested. However, the wintry weather will spread over to parts of England and Wales as the maps show snow in areas around Devon, Cardiff and parts of Birmingham, Manchester and Gloucester.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast between February 25 and March 6 reads: “Changeable during this period with Atlantic frontal systems moving across the country and shorter dry and bright interludes in-between.

“Rain and showers typically heaviest and most frequent in the west, with more sheltered eastern areas seeing much smaller amounts of rain.

“Often windy with a chance of gales at times. The weather forecast between March 2 and 15 read: “Although confidence is even lower than usual for this period, there are some signs of high pressure building near the UK, leading to somewhat drier conditions, with precipitation amounts near or below average.

“However, the position of this potential high will have a notable influence on both precipitation and wind. It will most likely linger near the UK through the first week of March, bringing relatively dry conditions, along with a risk of frost and fog.

“Daytime temperatures should be at least near seasonal for most areas, and potentially above average, although some chillier conditions are possible across Scotland.

“There is a small chance that high pressure could develop at higher latitudes, which would bring a risk of a colder week, though strong cold anomalies would not be expected. Wintry showers would then become more likely.”

Parts of the UK are likely to be blasted by snowy weather, with weather maps showing snow spreading…

[5008
748,13222,393,4884,2462,16,183765,183761,183262,185805,227040,1190,15,10881
post-778464","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-england","tag-britain","tag-cold-weather","tag-england","tag-great-britain","tag-snow","tag-uk","tag-uk-snow-latest","tag-uk-snow-updates","tag-uk-snow-weather","tag-uk-snow-weather-more","tag-uk-snow-weather-news","tag-uk-weather","tag-united-kingdom","tag-weather-maps
["GET
