(WKYT) &#8211; The London Police Department gave an update on Monday about the Kentucky State Police investigation into a deadly shooting involving an officer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Doug Harless was shot and killed inside his home by London police on December 23, 2024, according to KSP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">State police say officers were there to serve a search warrant, which WKYT has learned is tied to stolen lawn equipment belonging to the county\u2019s judge-executive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Court records obtained by WKYT raise the question that police could\u2019ve been at the wrong home when Harless was killed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><b>RELATED:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">KSP has been leading the investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In a statement, Acting London Police Chief Bobby Day said they have spoken with KSP and that a \u201cthorough and detailed investigation\u201d has been underway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Day said the investigation included numerous interviews, the submission of physical evidence for forensic testing, and consultation of the Medical Examiner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAt this stage, much of that work has been completed,\u201d Day said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Day said investigators are reviewing all test results, forensic findings, and the finalized autopsy report alongside the full body of facts gathered. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Once this review is complete, the findings will be submitted to the appropriate prosecuting attorney.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/7Q22NG66SFG4BCCZJFMQ43MG6E.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If deemed warranted, the matter will then be presented to a grand jury for review and consideration. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Day said the police department remains committed to seeing this process through with the seriousness, fairness, and objectivity it demands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WKYT.
