Trams leaving Manchester have had to stop at Freehold<\/p>\n

Passengers using the Rochdale line have been affected<\/p>\n

Trams are expected to be running again between Rochdale and Oldham<\/a> tomorrow after two days of disruption.<\/p>\n

Metrolink<\/a> said that a collision on the Oldham Way and Manchester Street roundabout in Oldham town centre caused damage to signalling used for trams.<\/p>\n

Repair work is set to take place tonight, with diversions in place for motorists.<\/p>\n

It is hoped that trams will be back up and running from tomorrow morning (February 22).<\/p>\n

Trams are currently not operating between Freehold in Oldham, and the Rochdale<\/a> town centre stop. The disruption first hit commuters yesterday, with those making their way home from Manchester having to cut their journeys short at Freehold.<\/p>\n

Metrolink said in a statement: “We\u2019re working to get the issue fixed as soon as we can, with tram services likely to be resumed tomorrow morning. However, there will be diversions in place for road users from 7pm tonight around the Oldham Way\/Manchester Street roundabout.<\/p>\n

“In the meantime, we\u2019re encouraging people to check before travelling and plan an alternative route. Passengers can use their tram tickets on Bee Network buses and can get help planning their journey on the Bee Network website and app.”<\/p>\n
