An Edinburgh flight<\/a> declared a mid-air emergency and was forced to divert on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The Jet2 plane was set depart at 6.15am and arrive in Rome<\/a> later in the day. It took off at around 6.50am but issued a 700 squawk code shortly after.<\/p>\n

The LS3915 flight saw the pilot declare an emergency around 30 minutes into the journey, reports the Daily Record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The plane was diverted to Birmingham Airport at around 7.30am. Images from FlightRadar24 show the aircraft travelling south until it flies over Stoke-on-Trent.<\/p>\n

The plane starts to pass Birmingham Airport but u-turns, looping around it in the sky. It then landed safely at the airport at around 7.40am.<\/p>\n

The nature of the on-board emergency is currently unknown. It is also unclear when passengers will be able to resume their journeys.<\/p>\n

The Record approached Jet2 for comment.<\/p>\n
