A PROGRAMME has been launched to help unemployed people in Inverclyde find work.<\/p>\n
The Environmental Employment Programme\u00a0will see people employed as ‘general operatives’ on a fixed-term contract until February 13, 2026, to carry out landscaping and maintenance work across the area.<\/p>\n
The programme is being run by Inverclyde Community Development Trust and is part of the employability contract.<\/p>\n
People who want to apply for the role must be aged 16 and over, reside within Inverclyde, and be unemployed.<\/p>\n
They must also be registered with the trust’s employability service.<\/p>\n
Successful applicants will work as part of a small team carrying out building clearance, redecoration, landscaping, and basic ground maintenance at public facilities across Inverclyde.<\/p>\n
Most of the work will be outdoors but may include internal tasks.<\/p>\n
Key tasks will include drainage works, fence building, basic brick laying, basic joinery, painting, and tiling.<\/p>\n
Applicants must have an understanding of health and safety procedures and be able to work as part of a team.<\/p>\n
Previous site experience is preferable but not essential.<\/p>\n
People will work 30 hours over four days and holidays are pro rata depending on contract hours and duration.<\/p>\n
The closing date for applications is April 18.<\/p>\n
