The fake ones invariably leave deposits or fragments in the liquid,\u201d said Kaur.<br \/><strong>Burn test:<\/strong> Authentic shilajit does not catch fire. Fake versions may contain flammable fillers, said Dr Bhavana.<br \/><strong>Smell and taste:<\/strong> It has a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/lifestyle\/health\/hina-khan-feeling-extreme-cold-shivers-chemotherapy-side-effects-experts-9908921\/\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">strong<\/a><\/strong>, distinct, earthy scent and a bitter taste\u2014overly sweet or tasteless versions are suspect.<br \/><strong>Consistency check:<\/strong> Pure shilajit is sticky in warm temperatures and hardens when cold, as mentioned by Dr Bhavana.<br \/><strong>Lab testing: <\/strong>Dr Bhavana advised that one should always check if the product is tested for heavy metals and microbial contamination.
