The British actor arrived in a full APXGP racing suit straight from the upcoming F1 movie, as well as an embellished racing helmet consisting of 20,000 Swarovski crystals. But before we knew what was happening, the racing suit was torn off to reveal a custom Tommy Hilfiger suit underneath.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Idris, who is attending the event as a special guest of Tommy Hilfiger, immediately drew attention in the racing suit, separating the tailored looks of the gala in a promo for the upcoming movie. And when the racing suit was ripped off, he embodied the gala&#8217;s theme of\u00a0&#8220;Superfine: Tailoring Black Style&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Idris stars in the upcoming movie F1, starring alongside Brad Pitt as the rookie Joshua Pearce &#8211; a name printed onto his racing suit tonight. Directed by Joseph Kosinski of\u00a0Top Gun: Maverick fame, the movie is making headlines as it only recently had its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/f1\/news\/f1-movie-soundtrack-sensation-producer-iconic-history\/10718556\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">soundtrack revealed to the public over the weekend of the Miami Grand Prix<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to partner with the highly anticipated film,\u00a0\u2018F1\u2019,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/wwd.com\/eye\/parties\/damson-idris-tommy-hilfiger-met-gala-2025-racing-fashion-f1-1237574144\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hilfiger said<\/a>. \u201cDamson Idris stars as Joshua Pierce, a driver for the fictional APXGP team, and we wanted his\u00a0Met Gala\u00a0entrance to reflect the same cinematic energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued:\u00a0\u201cThe Met is all about making a statement, and the reveal was everything: stepping out of the suit to unveil a sharp, tailored tuxedo in\u00a0Tommy tartan \u2014 seamlessly shifting from high-octane to high fashion. From start line to spotlight, it captured the essence of both worlds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joining the seven-time Formula 1 champion and co-chair of tonight&#8217;s gala, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/lewis-hamilton\/1278\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lewis Hamilton<\/a>, the two reunite after working so closely on the movie. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/team\/ferrari\/3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ferrari<\/a> driver is a producer on\u00a0F1\u00a0and worked closely with the team as they targeted total realism.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There\u2019s no better person to teach you about F1 than Lewis Hamilton,&#8221; Idris said at an IWC event attended by this writer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, Lewis comes in and he essentially calls BS. He lets us know that \u2018Hey, that wouldn\u2019t happen\u2019, which is a rarity in this art form.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo to have someone who lives, breathes and sleeps Formula One, where I know their hands have been on this movie, it\u2019s unlike anything I\u2019ve done before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey put me behind the wheel, and I had some driving experience \u2013 I\u2019ve driven fast cars before \u2013 but it\u2019s unlike anything that we\u2019re doing right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>   <img decoding=\"async\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/brad-pitt-damson-idris.jpg\" alt=\"Brad Pitt, Damson Idris\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">Brad Pitt, Damson Idris<\/p>\n<p class=\"photographer\">Photo by: Erik Junius<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton, dressed to impress, said the following on his responsibility at the Met Gala as co-chair:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Honestly, I think it&#8217;s really an extension of, you know, 2021, when I bought a table here and brought Black designers. I really created&#8230; it was an amazing evening.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After that, speaking with Anna [Wintour] and just starting to collaborate on what the Met could grow to and what it can one day be,&#8221; Hamilton continued.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were in London, and she told me the theme. And I was so, so excited. And then she asked me to be the co-chair.
