Daizen Maeda insists new contract talks are on hold until after Celtic\u2019<\/a> s Treble bid.<\/p>\n

And the PFA Scotland player of the year revealed he won\u2019t be attempting another gruelling round trip back to Japan ahead of the Scottish Cup<\/a> Final.<\/p>\n

The Hoops ace jetted back to his homeland last week with his family for the birth of their third child.<\/p>\n

But baby Maeda<\/a> didn\u2019t arrive and the attacker legged it back to Scotland in time for Sunday\u2019s Old Firm stalemate at Ibrox.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old will be staying in Scotland for the next few weeks though as he is focused on completing the Celts clean sweep.<\/p>\n

And Maeda admitted he\u2019s happy to wait until after the Hampden showdown with Aberdeen<\/a> to sit down and thrash out a contract extension.<\/p>\n

Maeda \u2013 whose current deal is up in 2027 \u2013 said: \u201cYes, the gaffer spoke to me about it. But there are still some games to be played this season so I just want to focus on them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe still have the Scottish Cup final to play for this season so I don\u2019t want to focus too much ahead. I want to focus on that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know this number of goals is not easy to achieve, so I don\u2019t want to think too much about this being the objective for next season. I would like to focus on everything, including goals, and then in the end maybe I can achieve something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maeda admitted the 20,000 mile round trip took its toll at the weekend and he was out of steam when he spurned a chance to grab a stunning stoppage time winner against Gers.<\/p>\n

The 31-goal frontman won\u2019t be attempting the jaunt again though with more silverware on the line.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt was a difficult trip this time because of the time difference and all the travel. It took a lot for me to go back and forth. So yeah, now I plan just to stay here for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was expecting my baby to be born in Japan but still he hasn\u2019t been born yet. So it was a bit difficult with the travel and everything.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the manager used me against Rangers<\/a> and I was grateful for his trust.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that moment physically it was very tough, I couldn\u2019t do much. I wish I could have scored that one. But overall what we have done this season has paid off, we have won the league and I\u2019m very happy about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maeda was frustrated but he crowned a sensational season with the PFA Scotland main prize on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

The humble attacker was thrilled to claim the gong \u2013 but he insisted he\u2019s no superstar and is determined to grab another medal at Hampden.<\/p>\n

Maeda said: \u201cI\u2019m very happy to be voted by my fellow footballers. As a foreigner it\u2019s really difficult to receive something like this so I\u2019m very grateful.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not a superstar or anything, I\u2019m just glad to receive this award.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the cup final but we also have three league games to play and it would be nice to show why we are the champions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have to get the results there, finish the league strongly and then hopefully get the last trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n
