Todd Cantwell has so far turned down approaches from Blackburn Rovers over the offer of a new contract and plans to assess his options.<\/strong><\/p>\n The 27-year-old\u2019s current deal is set to run until 2027 as things stand, but the club are determined to secure his position rather than risk losing him this summer. <\/p>\n However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider\u2019s Transfer Insider podcast<\/a><\/strong>, talks over a new deal have delayed due to their league position.<\/p>\n Blackburn<\/a> currently sit 20th in the Championship<\/a> table, just five points above the relegation zone, and will likely be forced to sell if they go down.<\/p>\n Cantwell<\/a> is viewed as a crucial part of Michael O\u2019Neill<\/a>\u2018s side and will play a big role in their bid for survival, despite their worries that he could look to move on.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Todd Cantwell edges towards Blackburn Rovers exit<\/p>\n Blackburn are locked in talks with Cantwell over a new deal and remain hopeful he will commit his future to the club despite interest from elsewhere.<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n Should he opt against signing a new deal completely, the midfielder could be moved on in the summer in as it will represent Blackburn\u2019s last chance to make money from his sale.<\/p>\n So far this season, Cantwell has made 20 Championship appearances, scored four goals and provided three assists and remains a key player despite missing their last two games.<\/p>\n Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast<\/strong>, I explained: \u201cWhen he left Rangers to join Blackburn 20 months ago, it was under a bit of a cloud.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of the fans weren\u2019t happy with him.
