You put all these new portraits. One of them includes John Adams. John Adams said we\u2019re a government ruled by laws, not by men. Do you agree with that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cJohn Adams said that? Where was the painting?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Time: \u201cIt\u2019s right here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s own words show us he isn&#8217;t all there<\/p>\n<p>The magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7280114\/donald-trump-2025-interview-transcript\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked the president about border security<\/a>, and he said this about the border wall: \u201cI built hundreds of miles of wall, and then (Biden) didn&#8217;t want to, and we had another, an extra hundred miles that I could have put up because I ordered it as extra. I completed the wall, what I was doing, but we have, I wanted to build additional because it was working so well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So he completed the wall but still had more to build. The reality is that during his first term, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politifact.com\/factchecks\/2023\/aug\/09\/donald-trump\/how-many-miles-of-border-wall-did-donald-trump-bui\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump \u201cbuilt\u201d 458 miles of wall along the nearly 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border<\/a>, but most of that involved repairing existing barriers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"related-link\"><strong style=\"margin-right:3px\">Opinion: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/columnist\/2025\/04\/30\/trump-tariffs-economy-shrunk-biden\/83371118007\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Honey, Trump shrunk the economy! And the lying coward is still blaming Biden.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s memory is not good. Just read these interview transcripts.<\/p>\n<p>And then this, <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7280114\/donald-trump-2025-interview-transcript\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">from the same interview<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Trump: &#8220;If this were Biden, well, first of all, he wouldn&#8217;t do an interview because he was grossly incompetent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Time: \u201cWe spoke to him last year, Mr. President.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cHuh?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Time: \u201cWe spoke to him a year ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cHow did he do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Time: \u201cYou can read the interview yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cNot too good. I did read the interview. He didn&#8217;t do well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, Trump didn\u2019t read the interview. And even more clearly, Trump isn\u2019t making much sense these days.<\/p>\n<p>So, where did that Moscow car bombing happen?<\/p>\n<p>Aboard Air Force One recently, he had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/trump\/who-killed-what-trump-appears-unaware-that-senior-russian-general-was-killed-in-car-bombing\/amp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this exchange with reporters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Reporter: \u201cThere was a car bomb in Moscow this morning that killed a Russian general, do you have any reaction to that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cWho killed what?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reporter: &#8220;Russian general killed by a car bomb.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cWow, no, I just heard. You\u2019re just telling me that for the first time. Where did this take place?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It took place in Moscow, grandpa, the guy literally just said it!<\/p>\n<p class=\"related-link\"><strong style=\"margin-right:3px\">Opinion: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/columnist\/2025\/04\/29\/amazon-tariff-display-cost-trump-bezos\/83351689007\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon accidentally told the truth about what Trump&#8217;s tariffs are costing us<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If Biden&#8217;s &#8216;mental decline&#8217; was concerning, Trump&#8217;s should be alarming<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/06\/media\/wall-street-journal-biden-mental-acuity\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biden\u2019s reported mental decline<\/a>, coupled with his advanced age, was a relevant issue. But some of those problems stemmed from Biden\u2019s poor oratorical skills and his lifelong stutter, both of which could make his delivery seem addled.<\/p>\n<p>This culminated in his dreadful debate performance against Trump, leading to his decision to step aside in the presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>I applauded that decision, but the reality was that <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-age-election-debate-trump-7c366fda83a697265d9ecc77e8a32fd1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">despite Biden showing his age<\/a>, it was clear more often than not that he remained sharp and had a deep knowledge and understanding of both politics and the world. The 82-year-old even managed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/the-biden-administration-handed-over-a-strong-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leave us with a growing economy<\/a>, which Trump has since tanked.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, on the other hand, seems to know little, and he has grown increasingly incoherent and rambling, often wholly detached from reality.<\/p>\n<p>Forgetful Trump doesn&#8217;t seem to know what&#8217;s going on around him<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/article\/what-we-learned-from-trumps-secret-filled-time-interview.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Asked about the 9-0 U.S. Supreme Court ruling<\/a> that said the Trump administration needs to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the wrongfully deported Maryland man, home from a Salvadoran prison, Trump said: \u201cWell, that\u2019s not what my people told me \u2013 they didn\u2019t say it was, they said it was \u2013 the nine to nothing was something entirely different.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was not, in fact, something entirely different.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7280114\/donald-trump-2025-interview-transcript\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Time journalists said to Trump<\/a>, \u201cYou once said you weren&#8217;t sure how the Civil Rights Act quote \u2018worked out.\u2019 Would America be better without it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump said: \u201cI never heard of that. Nobody\u2019s ever asked me that before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To which the interviewer replied: \u201cYou said it in a 2020 interview.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Trump said: \u201cI don&#8217;t remember having said that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A debate over nonexistent tattoos gets weird<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/full-transcript-trumps-exclusive-100-days-broadcast-interview\/story?id=121291672\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In a recent ABC News interview with Terry Moran<\/a>, Trump was pressed on the Abrego Garcia case and insisted the man is a gang member and has \u201cMS13\u201d tattooed on his fingers. That is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/maddowblog\/trump-abrego-garcia-ms-13-abc-news-interview-rcna203688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">simply not the case<\/a>. Abrego Garcia has finger tattoos, and the Trump administration released an altered picture of his hand with the \u201cM,\u201d \u201cS,\u201d \u201c1\u201d and \u201c3\u201d added to suggest that each of the four tattoos stands for one of the letters or numbers.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the most obvious doctored photo in the history of doctored photos, but Trump was convinced the superimposed letters and numbers are actually inked on Abrego Garcia\u2019s skin, leading to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/full-transcript-trumps-exclusive-100-days-broadcast-interview\/story?id=121291672\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this staggering exchange<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cIt says M-S-one-three.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran: \u201cThat was Photoshop. So let me just \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cThat was Photoshop? Terry, you can&#8217;t do that \u2026 he had \u2026 he \u2026 hey, they&#8217;re givin&#8217; you the big break of a lifetime. You know, you&#8217;re doin&#8217; the interview. I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you, but that&#8217;s OK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran: \u201cThis \u2026 I knew this would come \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cBut I picked you, Terry. But you&#8217;re not being very nice. He had MS-13 tattooed \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran: \u201cAlright. Alright. We&#8217;ll agree to disagree. I want to move on \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cTerry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran: \u201c\u2026 to something else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cTerry. Do you want me to show the picture?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran: \u201cI saw the picture. We\u2019ll, we\u2019ll, we&#8217;ll agree to disagree \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201cOh, and you think it was Photoshop. Well \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran: \u201cHere we go. Here we go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201c\u2026 don\u2019t Photoshop it. Go look \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran: \u201cAlright.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump: \u201c\u2026 at his hand. He had MS-13.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harvard? Harlem? Trump can&#8217;t seem to tell the difference.<\/p>\n<p>Again, there\u2019s no MS-13 on this guy\u2019s hand. Period. And no rational person could look at the sloppily doctored photo and think it\u2019s real.<\/p>\n<p>During an April 30 interview with NewsNation, <a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/194691\/donald-trump-invents-protest-supporting-war-harvard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump was asked by Stephen A. Smith about his war against Harvard University<\/a>. The president proceeded to describe imaginary riots in Harlem:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I say this. We had riots in Harlem, in Harlem, and frankly if you look at what\u2019s gone on \u2013 and people from Harlem went up and they protested, Stephen, and they protested very strongly against Harvard. They happened to be on my side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/atrupar\/status\/1917741179002646684\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump continued, bafflingly<\/a>: \u201cYou know I got a very high Black vote. You know that? Very, very high Black vote. It was a very great compliment to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again, the question was about Harvard, not Harlem. The \u201criots in Harlem\u201d refers to nothing in our present reality, and nobody asked Trump anything about Black voters.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Easter to &#8216;Murderers&#8217; and &#8216;Drug Lords&#8217;?<\/p>\n<p>These examples are only scratching the surface. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/trump-appears-confused-here-president-raises-eyebrows-by-switching-whos-suing-whom-in-angry-post-about-law-firm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump raged against a judge<\/a>\u00a0he claimed was overseeing a case in which he had sued a law firm. But the case actually involves a law firm that\u2019s suing him.<\/p>\n<p>His <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114370361342759621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Truth Social posts are unspeakably unhinged<\/a>, including recent lines like: \u201cHappy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well known MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back into our Country. Perhaps we should be concerned.<\/p>\n<p>This man\u2019s brain is filled with spiders. He seems to, at best, have one toe planted in reality.<\/p>\n<p>So where, I ask, is the fury? Where are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamatters.org\/cable-news\/cable-news-mentioned-bidens-age-or-health-nearly-4-times-often-trumps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hours upon hours of Fox News coverage<\/a>? Where is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamatters.org\/washington-post\/top-newspapers-fixate-bidens-age\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">extensive New York Times coverage<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s brain melt gets a pass, for reasons I\u2019ll never understand.<\/p>\n<p>None of this is in defense of Biden. I\u2019m all for younger, sharper minds leading the country.
