{"id":783364,"date":"2026-02-23T09:21:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T09:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/783364\/"},"modified":"2026-02-23T09:21:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T09:21:11","slug":"investors-weigh-new-trump-tariffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/783364\/","title":{"rendered":"investors weigh new Trump tariffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Treasury yields were little changed to start the week as investors weighed President Donald Trump&#8217;s latest tariffs, after the Supreme Court struck down much of the duties on Friday. <\/p>\n<p>At 3:47 a.m. ET, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/US10Y\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">10-year Treasury<\/a> yield was down less than 1 basis point to 4.076%. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/US30Y\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">30-year Treasury<\/a>\u00a0bond yield was also less than 1 basis point lower to 4.72%. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/US2Y\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2-year Treasury<\/a>\u00a0note yield was also nearly flat at 3.47%.<\/p>\n<p>One basis point is equal to 0.01%, and yields and prices move in opposite directions.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/20\/supreme-court-trump-tariffs-ruling.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Supreme Court invalidated a huge portion of Trump&#8217;s &#8220;reciprocal&#8221; tariffs<\/a> in a 6-3 ruling, in which they said that the president wrongfully used the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to enforce tariffs. They said that the law that underpins the import duties &#8220;does not authorize the President to impose tariffs.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Despite this, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/21\/trump-tariffs.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump retaliated Saturday<\/a> and said he&#8217;s raising global tariffs to 15% from 10%, saying it would be &#8220;effective immediately,&#8221; and additional levies would follow.
