{"id":783493,"date":"2026-02-23T10:41:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T10:41:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/783493\/"},"modified":"2026-02-23T10:41:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T10:41:11","slug":"toby-stephens-to-star-in-equus-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/783493\/","title":{"rendered":"Toby Stephens to star in Equus in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Menier Chocolate Factory in London has announced initial casting for its new production of Peter Shaffer\u2019s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/64789\/shows\/equus\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Equus<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Acclaimed actor <strong>Toby Stephens<\/strong> is set to play the role of Dr. Martin Dysart in <strong>Lindsay Posner\u2019s<\/strong> London revival.<\/p>\n<p>Equus is playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 18 May to 27 June 2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westendtheatre.com\/67568\/star-watch\/toby-stephens\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toby Stephens<\/a><\/strong> is the youngest son of acting legends Dame Maggie Smith and Sir Robert Stephens, and recently starred in the RSC\u2019s Wendy and Peter Pan at the Barbican Theatre. He has a long association with the RSC, the National Theatre, and starring in the West End.<\/p>\n<p>His screen credits include Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Camomile Lawn, and Die Another Day.<\/p>\n<p>Further casting for Equus is to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Shaffer\u2019s Equus is considered a modern classic, and joins his award-winning body of work which includes Five Finger Exercise, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, Amadeus and Lettice and Lovage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-border-color has-black-border-color has-ast-global-color-4-background-color has-background\" style=\"border-style:solid;border-width:1px\"><strong>What is Equus about? <\/strong>Psychiatrist Martin Dysart is set the challenge of a lifetime when faced with a 17-year-old boy who has blinded six horses.
