{"id":786405,"date":"2026-02-24T18:53:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T18:53:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/786405\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T18:53:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T18:53:14","slug":"jack-dempsey-scotland-injury-hope-as-glasgow-warriors-provide-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/786405\/","title":{"rendered":"Jack Dempsey Scotland injury hope as Glasgow Warriors provide update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  The influential forward suffered a bicep injury in the win over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotlandrugbynews.com\/topics\/england-national-rugby-union-team\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">England<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotlandrugbynews.com\/topics\/scottish-gas-murrayfield\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Murrayfield<\/a> and it was initially feared that he would require surgery.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  On Thursday, after naming his team to face <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotlandrugbynews.com\/topics\/wales-national-rugby-union-team\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wales<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotlandrugbynews.com\/news\/25058018.gregor-townsend-news-interviews-updates-scotland-coach\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gregor Townsend<\/a> admitted a final decision hadn\u2019t been made with surgery potentially leaving Dempsey with months on the sidelines.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Good news, however, has emerged from the Glasgow Warriors camp as the decision has been made that the 31-year-old won\u2019t go under the knife.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Warriors coach Forrest has revealed that Dempsey could return within \u2018weeks\u2019, which could feasibly make him available for the Triple Crown decider.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>Read more:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>\u201c<\/strong>Jack&#8217;s going down the non-surgical route,\u201d confirmed Forrest. \u201cSo, that\u2019s probably a more conservative approach just in terms of the nature of an injury he had and there was a decision to be made there.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cSo, best case scenario, he could be back in a matter of weeks for us, which obviously, that would be huge. But, same with any injury, there are no guarantees he&#8217;s going to go down that route just now. And then obviously, it just depends on how he responds with his rehab.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Scotland Rugby News understands that the likelihood of Dempsey recovering to face Dublin in Ireland is minimal but Forrest admits he can\u2019t fully be ruled out.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Scott Forrest. (Image: Stuart Wallace \/ Shutterstock)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Pressed on whether Dempsey could feature against Ireland, Forrest replied: <strong>\u201c<\/strong>That&#8217;s not really one I&#8217;m in a position to answer. I think with the nature of the tendon injury on his bicep, people react in different ways.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Obviously, the fact that he doesn&#8217;t need to get surgery on this, because it&#8217;s at the top of the bicep, not the bottom, then that&#8217;s a positive. But ultimately, it really just depends how he reacts over the next week to 10 days to determine how quickly he&#8217;ll be back.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>Read more:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIf he&#8217;s back for Ireland, that would be probably one of the quickest recoveries, but like I say, everyone responds in different ways.
