\n Celebrating its 22nd edition, the festival will commence tomorrow, spanning multiple venues across the city.\n<\/p>\n
\n The festival, based at Glasgow Film Theatre<\/a>, will run until March 8, showcasing 126 films from 44 countries.\n<\/p>\n \n This year\u2019s catalogue includes premieres from around the globe with 16 world, European and international premieres, 68 UK premieres and 18 Scottish premieres.\n<\/p>\n \n Among the highlights of the festival will be a daily free screening of the 2026 retrospective strand Truth to Power.\n <\/p>\n \n This programme features 10 films spanning the 1930s to 2014 that delve into challenging systems of power or depict acts of resistance.\n<\/p>\n \n Ava DuVernay\u2019s Selma (2014), Stanley Kubrick\u2019s Dr Strangelove (1964) and a 50th anniversary screening of All the President\u2019s Men (1976) are among the list of films to be screened.\n<\/p>\n \n Truth to Power screenings will take place at 10.30am at the GFT, with tickets available from the GFT Box Office on the morning of the screening.\n<\/p>\n \n Families can also partake in the Take 2 free screenings happening every Saturday morning at 11.30am at GFT.\n<\/p>\n \n This year\u2019s festival picks are The Eagle Huntress and The Children of Bullerby Village.\n<\/p>\n \n Each child attending these events will receive a free ticket for themselves and one for their accompanying adult.\n<\/p>\n \n Meanwhile, the GFF Community Takeover Day makes a comeback with local residents invited to a Community Planning Meet-Up.\n<\/p>\n \n Here, they will be able to select films, food and activities for the wider community to enjoy.\n<\/p>\n \n The Youth Takeover, carried out by the Glasgow Film Young Ambassadors, will present a free pop-up screening of Rebuilding for under-25s.\n<\/p>\n \n This programme, which includes screenings, activities, live music and food, is co-curated by the Young Ambassadors.\n<\/p>\n \n The screening will be followed by a one-off set from singer-songwriter Kirsten Adamson, daughter of the legendary Stuart Adamson (Big Country, Skids).\n<\/p>\n \n This event is free but ticketed, with bookings available from: https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/psm7t5yv.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n \n Berlinkys is also opening its doors for a variety of social events every night of the festival in collaboration with GFF.\n<\/p>\n \n Two special events, the GFF Film Quiz and GFF Movie Karaoke, are free to attend and will be held on March 2 and 3.\n<\/p>\n \n Information on obtaining GFF\u2019s free or discounted tickets and events can be found at the GFT Box Office, online at glasgowfilm.org<\/a> or by calling 0141 332 6535.\n<\/p>\n \n Paul Gallagher, the head of programme at GFF, welcomed the events.\n<\/p>\n \n He said: “I\u2019m so pleased that GFF can offer free and low-cost events that ensure the festival remains open to the community.\n<\/p>\n \n “The community and youth takeovers also reflect an essential aspect of Glasgow Film Festival: creating an inclusive, collaborative space where audiences participate in and shape the experience of the festival.”\n<\/p>\n \n The GFF, Scotland\u2019s flagship film festival, is run by Glasgow Film, a charity responsible for the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) operations.\n<\/p>\n
