{"id":786646,"date":"2026-02-24T21:33:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T21:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/786646\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T21:33:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T21:33:22","slug":"celtic-and-auston-trusty-learn-fate-following-hibs-red-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/786646\/","title":{"rendered":"Celtic and Auston Trusty learn fate following Hibs red card"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  As the home side were about to take a corner, the centre-back lashed out at Hibs midfielder Jamie McGrath, who fell to the ground following the contact being made to his arm.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  After being contacted by Grant Irvine at Clydesdale House to look at the incident, referee Matthew MacDermid conducted an on-field review, which resulted in a red card for the USA international.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Now, following their appeal, Trusty&#8217;s dismissal has been upheld, with the 27-year-old defender now set to miss Celtic&#8217;s next three matches, including this Sunday&#8217;s Glasgow Derby vs Rangers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  After the game, Celtic interim manager Martin O&#8217;Neill reacted to the incident in his post-match press conference. &#8220;Well, I&#8217;ve just had a word with the referee, and he said that he was going to just have a word with the two players, first of all, then I think VAR intervened and said that it was violent conduct,&#8221; he said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Yeah, I&#8217;ve spoken to him (Trusty). At the end of it all, you can&#8217;t do this. These are the rules now. It doesn&#8217;t matter whether somebody&#8217;s holding on to you at all.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;In an attempt to break away, you can&#8217;t, I think, thrust down in the manner in which he did.
