{"id":786809,"date":"2026-02-24T23:17:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T23:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/786809\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T23:17:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T23:17:15","slug":"chris-sutton-laughs-at-the-suggestion-that-the-edinburgh-derby-is-bigger-than-celtic-rangers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/786809\/","title":{"rendered":"Chris Sutton laughs at the suggestion that the Edinburgh derby is bigger than Celtic-Rangers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=67hailhail.com \" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Add as preferred source on Google <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask any Celtic and Rangers fan, and they will tell you that no game on the footballing planet touches their rivalry. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the next fortnight, everyone will get two tastes of the Glasgow derby, starting with the Premiership showdown on Sunday, and then the Scottish Cup tie the following week, both at Ibrox.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/chris-sutton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Sutton<\/a> was in a fit of laughter when it was suggested to him that the rivalry between Hearts and Hibernian is now \u2018bigger.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Given <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/mick-mccarthy-and-tony-pulis-agree-about-celtics-title-chances-compared-to-rangers-and-hearts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hearts\u2019 title charge this season<\/a>, and the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/match\/celtic-player-ratings-as-trusty-walks-and-attackers-frustrate-in-brutal-vs-hibs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hibs beat Celtic<\/a> at the weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/robbie-savage\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Robbie Savage<\/a>, somehow, thinks that now equates to the Edinburgh derby being \u2018bigger.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>          Should Martin O\u2019Neill field a rotated side vs Stuttgart to focus on the Rangers game? <\/p>\n<p class=\"grv-talking-point__subtitle\">What would you do?<\/p>\n<p>     <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/67HH-2026-02-24T151125.438-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Benjamin Nygren tries to fend off Jeff Chabot and Bilal El Khannouss during Celtic vs Stuttgart in the Europa League\" class=\"wp-image-365180\" \/>Credit: Getty Images\/Charlie Crowhurst \u2013 UEFA       Chris Sutton laughs at the suggestion that Hearts vs Hibernian is bigger than Celtic vs Rangers<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Savage needs to be educated about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/how-copa90-amazingly-rated-the-celtic-v-rangers-rivalry-with-a-rating-out-of-20\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Glasgow derby<\/a> because, as Sutton put it, it\u2019s probably \u2018the biggest game in the world.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>But when Savage put forward the suggestion of Hearts and Hibernian on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sounds\/play\/m002rqcj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">606 on BBC Radio 5 Live<\/a>, Sutton didn\u2019t even dignify it with an answer, other than just laughing. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Celtic fan:<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s the biggest game in Scotland on Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris Sutton:<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s probably the biggest game in the world. That derby, the intensity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robbie Savage:<\/strong> \u201cIs Hearts-Hibs bigger right now?
